LEGO Adults Welcome Catalog Hitting Mailboxes

LEGO Adults Welcome Catalog

If you get LEGO catalogs in the mail, you may or may not have received a new Adults Welcome catalog which has been the talk on various forums in recent days. The pages have a more higher quality feel to it and the covers have a matte feeling to them. The catalog basically shows some of the sets that are listed as 18+ with some product details. LEGO has given some insight on it:

It was a test mailed only to select individuals in the US. It was super-targeted, although I don’t know their criteria for selection. Most households were reported to never have made a LEGO purchase before.

Nobody knows what the criteria is to get one but if you did get one, congrats because it looks like there weren’t that many that went out. It’s cool to see that LEGO is branching out to AFOLs using physical media since most mainly rely on information digitally nowadays.

LEGO Page for Adult LEGO Hobbyists Survey

LEGO is thinking about launching a new landing page designed specifically for AFOLs and they have started a new survey to get your thoughts on it. The point of the survey is to gauge if the new page connects with fans or not. Note that is survey is different from the passion survey which is another topic.

LEGO AFOL Survey – What Are You Passionate About?

If you’re an AFOL, LEGO is doing a survey on what you are passionate about. The reason for it is to better understand the AFOL audience and what else they like. The survey is open to everyone and it takes about 15 minutes to complete. The feedback back they receive will help them understand how to engage with the community.

As an AFOL, we know you are passionate about building – but what else are you passionate about? Do current sets support your interest? How do you connect with the community? How engaged are you with the LEGO Group?

Our department is conducting a new survey on AFOL Passion. We want to answer these questions so we can better understand our AFOL audience and what they love the most. We have done similar surveys in the past but it’s time to update our information to stay up-to-date 🙂

The survey is anonymous and open to everyone, everywhere. We estimate it’ll take about 15 minutes to answer, and the feedback you give us will help us better understand how to engage with the AFOL community.

Please take the share and share it here. Right now we have no end date and will close the survey when our response rate reaches a set threshold.

The project now joins Imperial Island Fort, Movie Set, Lifeguard’s Shack, A-Frame Cabin, Spaceballs, The Costume Store, Boston Dynamics Spot 1:4 Scale Motorized Model, Medieval Tavern, Tavern Under the Snow, Women of Computing, Working Mini Golf Course, Brick Walk, Medieval Harbor, and Floating Island (Using Tensegrity) as the ones to reach the Second 2021 Review Stage.

BrickLink to Give Update Next Week on BrickLink Designer Program

The first crowdfunding round for the BrickLink Designer Program came and went just like that and it didn’t go over well with some fans with some of the issues they had. They have put out a statement saying they’ve read your comments and frustrations and will give an update some time next week.

As we know by now, there were some glaring issues right from the get-go. First was the site crashes when the pre-orders started. Next was the 5,000 limit which went way quicker than expected. There was a recent article by Jay’s Brick Blog stating that the 5,000 limit was intentional due to manufacturing constraints and if they made more, the satisfaction of owning a limited edition set goes down. I can tell you that there are more unsatisfied fans than happy ones right now.

The 40 day crowdfunding time that they provided was way overestimated as the projects reached the goal in less than a day. Lastly was the purchasing limit of five per project. This allowed mainly scalpers to buy up stock and left legit buyers out.

We’ll see what BrickLink has to say next week and if they address some of these issues. Were you able to get what you wanted? Personally, I just bought the Sheriff’s Safe.
