Two More Projects Archived on BrickLink Designer Program

As the pre-production phase of the BrickLink Designer Program is beginning to wrap up by the end of May, many projects are finalizing their designs for the crowdfunding stage. In the past day, there have been two additional projects that have been archived which include the Temple of Hermit by Brickfornia and Japanese Old Style Architecture by TAXON55.

The Temple of Hermit was archived “due to the complexity of revising the model for the program.” The Japanese Old Style Architecture was withdrawn “due to other obligations” from the designer. These projects join the three from RobenAnne that were withdrawn last month and it leaves 26 projects left to potentially move on to the crowdfunding phase.

LEGO Announces $1 Million for India COVID Relief

With the COVID-19 cases still surging in India, LEGO has announced that they are donating $1 million to support COVID relief. The money will be used to deliver learning to around 20,000 children aged 3-14 whose education has been disrupted by the most recent outbreak, ensure food security for families and provide COVID-19 Care Kits designed to reduce infection rates.

US$1 million donated to support COVID-19 relief in India

The LEGO Group and the LEGO Foundation join forces to support Save the Children India to help children and families impacted by the country’s recent surge in COVID-19 cases.

Billund, May 12th, 2021: Today, the LEGO Group and the LEGO Foundation have announced a US$1 million donation to help Save the Children India support families and children most at risk in Delhi, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, and West Bengal. It will be used to deliver learning to around 20,000 children aged 3-14 whose education has been disrupted by the most recent outbreak, ensure food security for families and provide COVID-19 Care Kits designed to reduce infection rates.

Steen Lauge Kokkenborg, General Manager, LEGO Group India, said: “The latest outbreak is having a devastating impact on caregiving and schooling for the country’s most vulnerable children. We hope this contribution will provide some security to children and families as well as allow children to continue to learn through play and build vital skills despite schools being closed.”

LEGO Looking for Feedback on VIP Rewards Center

LEGO is asking for some feedback about the VIP program in the LEGO VIP Rewards Center and you can earn some points for your time. This survey was open to other parts of the country a few weeks ago but has recently opened up in the US.

The purpose of the survey is to help improve the VIP program and the rewards that LEGO provides. There’s 21 questions and it shouldn’t take more than 10 minutes to complete.

Our LEGO Stories Podcast Episode 2

LEGO has released episode 2 of their Our LEGO Stories podcast which talks about some of the things that LEGO employees have been doing to have a positive impact on the world. LEGO Masters Season 2 Contestants Revealed

FOX has just revealed the 12 new teams for season two of LEGO Masters. Airing Tuesday, June 1 on FOX, the teams will compete in various challenges for a chance to win $100,000 as well as the title of LEGO Masters. Will Arnett will be back to host and LEGO designers Amy Corbett and Jamie Berard will return to judge the builds.

Next LEGO VIP Collectible Coin Not Dropping on May 1

The LEGO VIP Collectible Coins have been pretty popular as LEGO released them every month with the last one being the Classic Space from earlier this month. LEGO has announced that the next coin will not be dropping on May 1 like with the other ones. There’s no explanation why but there will be some sort of announcement in the near future. The next coin should be the gold VIP one that goes in the middle of the display case if you got it.

The next coin in the set will not drop May 1. There will be an announcement as to when!

The LEGO Group Named TIME 100 Most Influential Companies

TIME has released their first ever TIME 100 Most Influential Companies and The LEGO Group was one of the companies recognized for the honor. In the Innovators category, LEGO was named the most influential in fostering creativity. During the COVID-19 lockdowns, LEGO pushed forward with the Rebuild the World campaign to encourage kids and families to unlock their creativity by building.

During worldwide COVID-19 lockdowns, Lego creations have stacked up in homes with children. The company reported a 21% jump in sales, resulting from the immediate demand for in-home entertainment and the company’s pre-pandemic push to boost online sales globally. While its flagship product remains the classic brick, the 88-year-old family-owned company is evolving to recognize the diverse needs of young consumers with new offerings like Lego Braille Bricks and pandemic-inspired online content and hybrid learning resources. As families continue to hunker down, Lego love appears to be growing. “I have never gotten so many letters … [about] how important Lego play has been,” CEO Niels B. Christiansen tells TIME.
