LEGO Ideas Beatles Yellow Submarine Achieves 10,000 Supporters

The Beatles Yellow Submarine by kevinszeto is the latest project to achieve 10,000 supporters on LEGO Ideas. The project is based on the Beatles’ tenth studio album which was the soundtrack for the animated film of the same name. The set contains 409 pieces and also contains minifigures of the four members of the band.

The Yellow Submarine now joins the Jurassic Park Explorer, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea Nautilus, and the Toyota Landcruiser 40 Series as the projects that qualify for the Third 2015 Review Stage.

LEGO Ideas WALL·E (21303) Available Again on Shop@Home

If you’ve been waiting for the LEGO Ideas WALL·E (21303) to come back in stock, wait no more. LEGO has listed the set as available for purchase again on Shop@Home. Presumably, LEGO has fixed the issues the set had with the neck and head since it was initially released back in September. Many people have been waiting to see when it would come back but WALL·E (21303) has shown up just in time for the holiday shopping season.

Update: It looks like it’s out of stock again.

Zero LEGO Ideas Projects Selected to Become Official Set

Today LEGO has announced the results of the First 2015 LEGO Ideas Review Stage and I believe for the first time ever, there was not a project that was selected to become an official LEGO Ideas sets. These projects include:

Science Adventures
The Discworld
Medieval Market Street
Disney Princess Frozen Elsa’s Ice Castle
Douglas DC-3
Bricksauria/Tyrannosaurus Rex
International Space Station
The Golden Girls Living Room and Kitchen Modular Set
Legend of Zelda: King of Red Lions Play Set
RMS Titanic
1969 Corvette
Small Yellow
Daft Punk

There are no specifics of why each project did not pass but some of the broader reasons stated include disagreements with the intellectual property rights, projects being too similar to existing products or future products, or projects being too large.

All is not lost though as they are still looking into the F7A Hornet – Star Citizen set. If you’re not familiar with Star Citizen, it is an upcoming space simulator video game that will be launching in 2016.

Today is Back to the Future Day and to celebrate the occasion, I’m giving away the 2013 LEGO CUUSOO DeLorean Time Machine (21103). The set was officially retired at the end of last year but was still available around the beginning of this year. It has since been off the shelves and only available on the secondary market like BrickLink and eBay but now you have an opportunity to win one. LEGO Releases Official Statement Regarding WALL·E (21303)

LEGO has finally posted an official statement regarding the head swivel issue for the WALL·E (21303) set on the LEGO Ideas blog. It’s pretty much the same thing that was said on a customer’s email that I reported on yesterday. The only difference is that they’ve updated the stock availability to it being shipped in 30 days.

If you’ve already purchased WALL·E, contact Customer Service to get the updated parts when they’re available.

LEGO Working on LEGO Ideas WALL·E (21303) Head Issue

As we know by now, the release of the LEGO Ideas WALL·E (21303) has been nothing short of a complete disaster. It was originally set for release on September 1st but it has since been delayed and has been listed for a February 2016 release on Shop@Home. The limited amount of sets that have shown up at LEGO Brand have already been sold out or recalled with no mentioning of the reason. Presumably it’s because of the weak neck joint but as I and many others have reported, it’s mainly because of the swiveling head.

A post on Reddit from LEGO Customer Service has noted that WALL·E’s head is indeed a problem and this is the first time that we’ve heard LEGO acknowledging it after numerous complaints from various outlets. They also state that they’re working on a fix for the head with a new solution in the next couple of weeks. My guess is that the second wave of recalls is to fix the head swivel which was a problem from the very beginning. I’m not sure why LEGO didn’t fix it when they recalled it the first time for the neck. Stay tuned as we get details on when the LEGO Ideas WALL•E (21303) will be available for purchase again. If you already have the set ahead of this fix, you can either call or email LEGO Customer Service and they’ll most likely send you the parts.
