Star Wars Celebration 2015 Exclusive LEGO Set Found

Star Wars Celebration 2015 - LEGO Star Wars Tatooine Set

Star Wars Celebration 2015 will be happening next weekend in Anaheim and the event has gotten into the LEGO exclusive sets as well. A user by the name of conventionsales on eBay has posted a somewhat blurry image of the exclusive set that attendees would be able to get at Star Wars Celebration. The image shows off a LEGO Star Wars Tatooine Mini Build similar to the sets you can get at San Diego Comic Con which features a landscape of Tatooine that has the Lars homestead, a Sandcrawler, a landspeeder, microbuilds of some of the characters, and a C-3PO minifigure.

As an eBay Affiliate, I earn from qualifying purchases.

There’s no word on how attendees will be able to get the set at the event or how much it will cost but you can be sure that it’ll go for a lot on the secondary market. I’m sure completionists will definitely try to get their hands on it. We’ll have more details as they become available as we get closer to the convention.

Rumors of New LEGO Star Wars Death Star Set in 2016

While I was catching up on Eurobricks, I found something interesting on the LEGO Star Wars board by Just2Good. I’m not totally sure if it was an April Fool’s joke but he stated that there will be a new Death Star set coming out in 2016 which will replace the current 10188 set. It does sound pretty fake because there is one that is still currently being sold on Shop@Homeicon. What if this piece of news was actually real and J2G fooled everyone by posting so close to April Fool’s Day to make it seem like a joke.

There are some things that makes a new Death Star set plausible. First, the current set will be turning 7 years old in a few months and the minifigures are pretty outdated by today’s standards. They are still great minifigures but they could use an update, preferably with some different characters. There’s no other set that’s been sold as long as the 10188 set has been selling. There’s also another rumor that the current Death Star will be retired by the end of the year so a new one to replace the old one as a flagship set seems reasonable. I’ve also heard from a pretty reliable source stating that the Death Star will be gone by the end of 2015 as well.

Again, a new Death Star for 2016 set sounds far-fetched but not out of the realm of possibility. Is Just2Good telling the truth or is this a ruse? From what I’ve seen so … Continue

LEGOLAND California Star Wars Days 2015 Recap

LEGOLAND California Star Wars Days 2015

Star Wars Days 2015 took place at LEGOLAND California this past weekend and there were some new things at the park this year. One thing is the massive 500,000 LEGO brick Death Star model at the LEGO Star Wars Miniland area. To give you some perspective, it stands 13 feet high and 8 feet wide weighing more than 1,900 pounds. Words doesn’t really describe how big it actually is. You have to see it in person to get the full effect.

Another thing to see at Star Wars Days is all the cool MOCs in the fan gallery area. Members of SandLUG, LUGOLA, and other local builders had many of their builds on display for the public to see.

Overall Star Wars Days 2015 at LEGOLAND California was another cool event that I was able to attend. Unfortunately I did was unable to stay as long as I wanted and missed photos of some of the MOCs. Be sure to click through the smaller images to see a larger version of it. Hopefully I can do it again when next year rolls around. Full disclosure, I was able to attend the event courtesy of a very good friend.

LEGO Star Wars 2015 Sith Infiltrator (75096) and Constraction Set Details

We have some new LEGO Star Wars 2015 news/rumors for you guys today. Sir von Lego over on Eurobricks has in hand a German retailer catalog and there’s a new set that we haven’t mentioned before, a Sith Infiltrator (75096). This new version of the ship could be a store exclusive and that’s why it wasn’t mentioned before. It was also stated that the minifigures that will be included in the set are Darth Maul, Watto, Young Anakin, Astromech, and Qui-Gon Jinn. There’s been a couple version released already with the latest one being 7961 in 2011 but it seems that we’ll be getting another Sith Infiltrator this year.

Sir von LEGO has also given a more accurate detail of the characters for the LEGO Star Wars Constraction Ultrabuild sets coming later this year. These characters are Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Boba Fett, General Grievous, and a Stormtrooper. It was earlier mentioned that Jango Fett and Commander Cody would be two of the characters but it seems that that isn’t the case now.

Disney XD Acquires LEGO Star Wars: Droid Tales

Disney has announced that they have acquired LEGO Star Wars: Droid Tales from The LEGO Group. As a result of this acquisition, they will be airing the show on Disney XD later this year. LEGO Star Wars: Droid Tales is an animated series that consists of five 22-minute episodes telling the story of Star Wars I: The Phantom Menace up to Star Wars VI: Return of the Jedi from C-3PO and R2-D2’s perspectives.

What’s interesting about this something that was written in the press release. “C-3PO and R2-D2 have gathered to regale Luke, Leia, Han, Chewbacca and the other Rebels with the tales of their adventures that led to the events of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.” C-3PO wasn’t fully functional until Anakin activated him when he first met Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan on Tatooine. C-3PO was also first introduced to R2-D2 so there wasn’t really any adventures to speak of before that unless the whole story is retconned. We’ll see what happens when the show airs on Disney XD later this year.

ENFIELD, Conn., Feb. 27, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — The LEGO Group, world renowned manufacturer of construction toys, today announced that Disney XD has acquired LEGO® Star Warsâ„¢: Droid Tales for airing later this year. The animated content series consists of five 22-minute episodes that re-tell the Star Wars saga in chronological order from Star Wars: The Phantom Menace up through Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. Disney XD is also currently home to the animated hit series Star Wars Rebels.
