LEGO Star Wars 2013 Summer Set Images

Our Flickr friend, motayan, has posted images of a couple of the LEGO Star Wars summer sets. Here, you can see the Jek-14’s Stealth Starfighter (75018) and the AT-TE (75019). Although the images are kind of small, you can see a few of the minifigures included in the sets. For the Jek-14 Starfighter you get Jek-14, Separatist Bounty Hunter, Special Forces Clone Trooper, and R4-G0. In the AT-TE, you get Mace Windu, Coleman Trebor, Clone Trooper Gunner, and 2 Battle Droids. Looking at the images, what do you think of these new sets?

LEGO The Yoda Chronicles Continues

The Yoda Chronicles continues the episode where they left off a couple of weeks ago. It shows that the Umbaran MHC is getting closer to the Jedi while they’re holding off the Droid Army. At the end, Yoda places a 1×1 stud in the middle of the road the the MHC trips over it and a mysterious figure falls out of it. Who can this person be?

Honestly, so far this series is off to be a little disappointing. These one minute short skits don’t really say anything but just advertising products from the Star Wars line. Hopefully, it picks up in the next couple of episodes. Stay tuned for the next episode of The Yoda Chronicles.

LEGO Accused of Being Racist and Responds

This news has made the rounds on the internet that The LEGO Group has been accused of being racist by the Turkish Cultural Community of Austria. They claim that the Jabba’s Palace set from the Star Wars line is similar to the Hagia Sophia mosque in Istanbul and demands an apology because it offends the Muslim community. This all started because a Turkish man was offended after the set was purchased for his son by another family member. The Turkish Cultural Community also claim the scene to be “racial prejudice and vulgar insinuations against Asians and Orientals as people with deceitful and criminal personalities” and the minfigures “resemble ‘terrorists, criminals and murderers.'”

Honestly, this is about as funny as a screen door on a submarine. I’m from Asian descent and have absolutely no issues with the set at all. I actually like how the set looks overall and gave it high praise in my review. Obviously, the accusers haven’t seen any of the Star Wars movies to see what’s going on or what the set mirrored after.

LEGO has responded with a statement that the set is solely based on Jabba’s Palace from Episode VI and no reference to any real buildings, including the Hagia Sophia. See LEGO’s official response below:

All LEGO Star Wars products are based on the movies of the Star Wars saga created by Lucasfilm. Jabba’s Palace appears in Star Wars Episode VI and appears in a famous scene on the planet Tatooine. The building is the palace of Jabba – a

Our friends at Brick Fanatics made the rounds today and has given a list of sets that were on display. Unfortunately, photography was not allowed but so we have to wait a little longer to see what the new sets look like. It’s also nice to see the pricing we we can gauge how big the sets are without actually seeing images at this time.

LEGO Star Wars The Yoda Chronicles Begins

Today, the LEGO Star Wars The Yoda Chronicles released their first episode on the Star Wars minisite. It begins by showing Yoda, Pong Krell, and Ahsoka Tano fighting off a Droid ambush. They are then saved by an AT-RT and the Z-95 Headhunter. At the end, it shows an Umbaran MHC arriving. Will it be a friend or a foe? The short video does not have any voicing as of yet but that might change in later episodes. So far it seems to be a promotion of the latest Star Wars sets more than anything. Let’s hope there’s more to The Yoda Chronicles than what we saw.

LEGO Star Wars AT-RT (75002) Review

The AT-RT was first used in the Clone Wars in the Star Wars universe. LEGO released the AT-RT (75002) in the first wave of the Star Wars 2013 sets. The AT-RT is the actually the 3rd version of the walker following the 2005 set (7250) and the 2009 polybag (30006). The set contains 222 pieces and retails for $19.99, a $0.09/piece which is outstanding especially for a licensed Star Wars set. The box has one instruction booklet and three numbered bags.
