LEGOLAND California The LEGO Movie 2 Experience Visit

LEGOLAND California The LEGO Movie 2 Experience

This past weekend, I took my family for their first visit to LEGOLAND California and luckily for us, they were doing The LEGO Movie Days as well as the recently opened The LEGO Movie 2 Experience. The Experience is similar to the one from The LEGO Movie where the LEGOLAND California Model Shop Team reconstructed some of the movie sets into this area of the park. For TLM2, there were more than 500,000 pieces used and took over 960 hours to assemble with the help of Warner Bros. to make it look as close as possible. From what I saw, it is a faithful recreation of some of the rooms from TLM2. Some of the details that are shown include the basement Apocalypseburg table, Bianca’s room, and even the laundry room. Check out the photos below.

The LEGO Movie 2 Experience at LEGOLAND California

A week ago, LEGOLAND California opened up The LEGO Movie 2 Experience for families to check out. It is basically a replica of the actual LEGO “set” that was used in a few scenes for TLM2, similar to what LEGOLAND has for the first movie. In addition, if you go there is weekend, February 23-24, LEGOLAND will also be doing The LEGO Movie Days which are more activities to do. I’ll be heading out on Saturday so expect some close up images of The LEGO Movie 2 Experience shortly after. Check out the press release that was sent to us.

LEGO Star Wars Days Cancelled at LEGOLAND

Star Wars Days

One of the more popular events that is held during the spring time at LEGOLAND California and around the world is LEGO Star Wars Days. Fans from all over come to see some new cool LEGO Star Wars builds including some from local LUGs. In recent days, there were rumors that next year’s event would be cancelled and it looks like that has been confirmed. Rebelscum has gotten in touch with with Lucasfilm and they have said that this past year would be the last to do the event. Also someone at Disney stated,

The motivation was to refocus expenditure and limit Star Wars exposure to reset the franchise and allow fans to heal.

I’ve also heard another reason for Star Wars Days being cancelled is to shift focus to The LEGO Movie 2. There’s still a chance that LEGO Star Wars Days could return down the line but in the future, it’s done for.
