“City sets” – Sets take place in what are presumably the Amazons.
Not that I’d mind a set for Sinclair’s “The Jungle,” but I feel like Lego might be better off dissociating these lines into a new “Adventure” category or something.
i’d prefer anything over another “police surveillance truck” set.
I’ll take “anything you’d see in an actual city” for 500. Has there ever been a Lego grocery. And how long ago was the last hospital? As someone in medicine, I feel left out.
Brutal truth, but hospitals don’t excite kids as much as police, firemen, or even coastguards.
Apparently grocery stores and hospitals excite kids if they’re female, of course 😛
or if they’re an toddler… since duplo has had more of them than regular lego, especially the hospitals for some reason.
they gotta have somewhere to bring all the minifigures that get shot, burned, or attacked by sharks…
the last city hospital was in 2006, and it was pretty lame… it’s like they designed it with the intention of keeping people from getting in… the ramp for the ambulance to drop figures off was a steep vertical climb, and the main entrance was at the top of a bunch of stairs… plus the whole thing looked like a junior set. http://imgur.com/a/1QTTr
they really ought to have made some kind of hospital for regular lego figures at this point. they have crutches, a wheelchair, head bandages, baby figures, you’d think there would’ve at least been a hospital in that big modular series by now.
and as for a grocery store, they did a supermarket suitcase junior set not too long ago (which had some good printed grocery pieces you could use if you made your own full store), and the kwik-e-mart from the simpsons… aaand a friends supermarket of course… pretty sure those are the only ones close to the city scale. oh right, I guess that creator “toy and grocery” 3 in 1 set… but that wasn’t even anything.
yeaaaaah. more dual molded legs…
and hey, finally a use for those stud pistols… kinda silly, but it works as a flare gun.
wait… that sea plane looks the same as the ambulance plane… only on water instead of wheels.
oh look, the starter pack has 1 less figure, but costs the same. figures.
but hey, new snake color. with the size of the stuff in that set, -1 figure actually seems worth it still. hopefully it doesn’t become the norm though.
However, They do include a Crocodile/Shark in them, which makes up for the absent figure.
Machetes and a black panther!
