The LEGO Space Collectible Minifigures Series 26 (71046) are now available and we’ve gotten our hands on them to check out, courtesy of LEGO. They retail for $4.99 each but there are various configurations that that you will be able to find. We have one of these hanger boxes which have 12 inside and we can confirm that you can get a full set if they are new. There’s also the 36 box version as well.
Base
Each minifigure comes with an exclusive, unique star printed base. You don’t really notice the stars when you look at the minifigures straight on but they do give some extra flair to the minifigures.
Spacewalking Astronaut
The Spacewalking Astronaut has on the typical suit which has printing of the Classic Space logo on the front as well as on one of the arms. The legs are also dual-molded with some red lines above the boots. She also has on a large backpack that a printed tile on the back side, also with the Space logo. A couple of arms on the suit are used for the controls which use printed cheese slopes. The top of the suit has a yellow light and what I assume is a camera lens on the opposite side.
Imposter
The Imposter has a seemingly normal look who wears a brown suit. The back of the torso has a hatch that opens up for the alien to go inside. The legs has some metal showing on the feet. The head is double-sided with one side showing a normal smiling face but there are subtle lines of its metal head. The other side of the head shows a small green alien in the controls. The hair has an antenna sticking out. He also has some green alien nanofigures.
Alien Tourist
The Alien Tourist is your typical grey alien but it’s wearing a very touristy outfit with the bright yellow shirt over a white one showing a heart Earth along with some coral colored shorts. The head is different from the Classic Alien from Series 6 as it is not fully rounded but has a stud on top for the teal hat. Its accessory is a camera.
Retro Space Heroine
The Retro Space Heroine has on a pink and purple outfit with some teal on the hands and helmet. The torso has some metallic-gold accents on the belt and bands on the arms and legs. There’s a purple skirt that goes between the torso and legs. Her double-sided head shows her wearing metallic lipstick and has a smirk on one side and a confident smile on the other. Her accessories include a ray gun and a robot pug.
M-Tron Powerlifter
The M-Tron subtheme returns in this series with the M-Tron Powerlifter. The torso is pretty much the same as the ones from the early 90s with some slight updates. The legs are now dual-molded with mechanical hydraulics printing on the sides. He wears a backpack that is connected to the mechanical arm. He has a double-sided head with one showing a heads-up display.
Nurse Android
The Nurse Android has a mostly white suit. The most interesting things are the arms which are translucent blue with printing on them. Her face shows her with blue eyes and lips and has a blue bob hairstyle. Her accessories include the highly-collectible pink spacebaby and a bottle.
Flying Saucer Costume Fan
Like with every Collectible Minifigures series, there is at least one costume minifigure and for this series, it is the Flying Saucer Costume Fan. The whole outfit features an outer space design with the Earth on the back. A saucer dish goes between his green head and torso along with the dome to represent flying saucer.
Ice Planet Explorer
Ice Planet 2002 returns this year with the Ice Planet Explorer. She has an updated torso showing her wearing a fur coat with the Ice Planet logo. The legs are pretty plain but it does have some printing for the boots. In addition, she also wears a blue armor piece with the logo on one of the shoulders. Her double-sided head shows her with a smirk on one side and an angry expression on the other. She can either wear the white helmet or have her red hair. Her accessories include a new saw with the iconic translucent-orange blades and a white robot penguin also with the Ice Planet logo.
Robot Butler
The Robot Butler also has a retro feel to it and it reminds me of Robot Model B-9 from Lost in Space but mainly at the legs. The robot is operated by data tapes as shown on the back of the torso and a screen on the front. The head shows a couple of bulb eyes with a panel on the back and is covered by a glass bubble. Its accessories include a pot with something whipped with the whisk.
Alien Beetlezoid
The Alien Beetlezoid is sort of a mix of the Insectoids and Galaxy Squad themes although LEGO did state it as either. It has a dark blue color scheme with magenta highlights on the torso and legs. The legs use the inverted ones that were first used with the Faun in Series 15. The head is very insect-like with the large mandibles in the front and has metallic silver printing for the eyes. It also has a pair of printed round wings which were first used for the Ladybird Girl in Series 21. Its accessory is an alien plant.
Orion
Orion is one of the more recognizable star constellations, mainly for his belt, but he is now in minifigure form. The torso has a metallic-silver shine for the armor but the main details are in the head, arms, and legs where they are translucent purple with metallic-silver specks for the starts. His hair uses the afro style which is also translucent purple. His accessories include a translucent purple club as well as a shield that has his constellation printed on it.
Blacktron Mutant
The iconic Blacktron theme makes a return in this series with the mutant and he wears the black and white outfit with the Blacktron logo on the front. Since he is a mutant, the right side has two arms. The legs are also different with one still having the white while the other has the green reptilian reverse style leg like with the Beetlezoid. The head also shows him half mutated while wearing a breathing apparatus. His accessories include a pair of blasters.
Results
Overall the LEGO Space Collectible Minifigures Series 26 (71046) is a decent wave and there are quite a few characters that I really liked. Obviously the ones that pay homage to the old Space themes are on the top of my list but there’s also some quirky ones like the Imposter and the Tourist are also likeable with none that are really downright undesirable.
If you are looking for a particular one, the boxes are scannable and you can check the list or use one of the many minifigure scanning apps that are now out there to find the one you want.
