I’ve briefly talked about the new LEGO Nexo Knights theme for 2016 but due to watermarked images and whatnot, there haven’t been any official images of it until now. The fine folks over at Brickset has revealed the first image of the upcoming theme which comes from the latest Australian LEGO Club Magazine. In the image, you can see some of the Knights like Clay, Macy, Axle, Aaron, and Lance as well as the villains Jestro, Moltor, and Lavaria.
As mentioned before, Nexo Knights will be LEGO’s next big original IP which replaces Legends of Chima and will include a major media campaign to go along with it including a TV show, books, and so on.
Now that we’ve seen an official image of LEGO Nexo Knights, what do you think so far?

Call me Lord Business if you will, but I like my knights to be Knights, and my spacemen to be spacemen. Blend them together and it’s just a hodgepodge mess.
There’s always been a lack of variation in armor of the castle themes so I’ll likely pick up a lot of knight type elements on Bricklink. But that’s about it.
I think there definitely will be some cool elements. I agree though.
Personally, I like the looks of this. It looks fun and unique in it’s own way. Also, honestly I like the mix of spacemen and knights.
A LEGO wannabe version of Hasbro’s Visionaries: Knights Of The Magical Light.
It sucks and it looks awful, not to mention the colours. I thought that it would be something like that set from the movie with the tower and two knights, then it would have been cool – real castle but also that could be transformed into a robot or a machin but using the castle elements. Now space knights looks lame, unless they have some nice helmets, that might be compatible with real knights.
Maybe it will be like Ninjago where at first everyone isn’t that into it then it grows on everybody. I personally like it.
Let’s hope so.
It looks… interesting. Not sure what those Bizarro-Jester things are but they look cool! Not a fan of the whole TV show thing, but those mechs are looking good! The main castle should be a cool blend of space and knights.
Something like warhammer 40k style. I see knights in power armor with energy weapons fighting monsters and villains. I can even see dred at the backstage.
If it was 1/2 as cool as Warhammer, we’d have something to look forward to. To me these designs reek of someone trying to make something they think kids will like, without actually doing something they even like. The funny thing is my tastes in toys at 12yrs old is pretty much as my tastes now, and I would have died for Warhammer style toys then.
Actually, a LOT of kid-testing and market research goes into developing any “big bang” theme like this. The book “Brick by Brick” by David C. Robertson (which is about how LEGO recovered from their near-bankruptcy experience in 2003) has a chapter about the development of the Ninjago theme that goes into more detail about the “big bang” development process.
I think five years ago a lot of AFOLs were ready to dismiss Ninjago as a ridiculous theme that wouldn’t stand a chance. As it turns out it’s become an incredible success story for the LEGO Group and is now considered an evergreen theme. I think we ought to give Nexo Knights a chance before dismissing it just because it doesn’t fit our grown-up sensibilities.
you’d be surprised at what kind of a small sample size constitutes ‘a lot’ in user testing.
Also, Lego turning it around is directly related to taking on licensed themes.
It’s amazing the Lego Nexo Knight replace Lego legend of china.
The more and more I look at this picture the more disappointed I am. I have no idea why you’d put two studs on top of a shield. I was thinking I’d like some more castle elements, but beyond the helmets, nothing here looks like it would mesh with my castle sets. Honestly, my biggest hope is really that this dies as quickly as possible. My biggest fear is that it will block the way of more castle sets that I really want. Very disappointed.
The minis are ok, but having seen some of the leaked images of the actual sets — to say I’m disappointed would be a huge understatement.
If Castle, Space and Chima had an effed up. mentally challenged mutant baby, it would be Nexo Knights.
where do you get it
