There are now official images of the two LEGO Seasonal Christmas 2016 sets with the Elves’ Workshop (40205) and Santa Claus (40206). Like with the rest of the Seasonal sets for this year, they have the weird design of the characters which may or may not be your cup of tea. Both sets will be available starting on November 1 at $9.99 each.

Well, I’d still prefer Minifig vignettes, like last year, but they are what they are. You can either complain about them (and buy them) or complain about them and skip them. I will buy both of these sets (and probably an extra of the Elves’ Workshop). There are some good pieces in that Elves set.
These this year were different and not in a good way. I do think Santa came out really well though.
I think they’re both scary. Don’t want either. Much prefer the sets they used to do, with the minifigs.
Agreed!
“The sets they used to do” were originally animals, with a snowman and a reindeer rounding out the year. The next year is when they switched to minifig scenes. I wouldn’t be surprised if they switch back and forth between minifigs and character builds going forward.
I’ve never really bothered with the holiday-themed sets over the last three years (or the seasonal sets the year before that), but I do have the two annual ornaments and plan to continue collecting them. I’ve also been collecting the GWP Christmas sets, though the elves do nothing for me. Santa globe (not pictured, due out Thanksgiving weekend, or the week before for VIPs), on the other hand, I’ve been waiting most of the year for.
Built the elves set tonight. I love it. Great pieces and there were 23 extra pieces when we finished.
I love the holiday themed items.. but these are just hitting me as creepy…
