Today, LEGO started a new promotion in stores and on [email protected] with the new LEGO Seasonal Year of the Pig (40186) set. It consists of 153 pieces and you can get it for free with purchases of $88 or more, while supplies last. The box opens up from the front and you’re greeted with an embossed money envenlope, three un-numbered bags, and the instructions.
The envelope is slightly smaller than the box and in Chinese culture, it is used to give money to your friends and family. I do like the gold embossing on the 2019 and on the Pig on the front and the back of the envelope. It’s not that essential to the set but it’s a nice addition.
The Pig sits on a 4×4 round base which is decorated on a grassy area. The Pig itself is mostly pink with some light gray on the hands, legs, belly, and on the head. The eyes and nose are on some printed 2×2 round tiles with the nose being exclusive to this set.
The body is fairly round using slope pieces on the front and back of the torso. The head and arms are on turntable pieces and they can be rotated to the back. The legs are on hinges and they can move slightly as well.
Overall, I always look forward the Chinese Zodiac Animal LEGO sets every year and the Year of the Pig (40186) is a great addition to the lineup. Currently, this is the fifth set that is in this particular style and it joins the Sheep, Monkey, Rooster, and Dog. There’s also the Year of the Snake (10250) but that set had a different style of build which I do not have.
Again from now until February 7, you can get it for free with purchases of $88 or more at LEGO Stores and on [email protected].
Thank you to LEGO for sending in this set for me to review although I also made a purchase in store to get one. The content above represents my own opinion and not the company. Review sets sent in does not guarantee a positive review.
