LEGO Star Wars Scarif Stormtrooper (40176) Polybag Found

It looks like there’s a new LEGO Star Wars polybag that has surfaced that goes with the same style as the R3-M2 (40268) from a few months ago which is the Scarif Stormtrooper (40176). Like before, the minifigure goes on a little stand with a background. There’s no word on when it will be available. The R3-M2 was available at LEGOLAND California and only recently in the UK and as far as I know, it hasn’t been available through regular channels like Shop@Home or Toys R Us at this time.

I…guess it’s a slightly different version of something we already have?

I don’t know if I’m alone, but these “generic random soldier” polybags are not very exciting. Not even an obscure named character that they didn’t put into a set? People aren’t going to get these en mass.

The cloth piece around the legs is new. I believe it is called a kama? Something like that.

The only Kama I know of are tiny sickles from Japan. Although a quick search indicates that this word is used in multiple languages across the world for different reasons, so you might be right.

Yeah, I don’t really know. xD

I think actually saw it called that on a Star Wars action figure from the early 1990s! Maybe times have changed! xD

Within Star Wars mythos, a kama is a half-skirt armor useful for deflecting shrapnel and jetpack flames (supported by Wookieepedia), but in the real world I have no idea where they got the term from. The closest I can come up with as an item of clothing is hakama, which are the extremely wide-legged pants worn by samurai.

The cloth piece has been used in at least one minifig back in 2012

I meant new to the Scarif Trooper minifigure, not new all together. The captain in the Tie Striker set did not have the cloth piece.

Currently purchasing $40 of Star Wars Lego at TRU Canada gets you the R3-M2 polybag. Got one myself on Friday.

Specifically, I think that is a Scarif Stormtrooper “Squad leader”. We already got a Captain in the Tie Striker set, and a regular trooper in the Scarif set.

For the record, the R3-M2 is currently available through Shop@Home in Australia, and I would imagine in several other countries, since we never get exclusive stuff 🙁

In Germany it is also still available with purchases of any Star Wars product through S@H and in LEGO Stores

Nice, I am curious how many of this modules are planned

R3-M2 was also available at LDCs in the US for purchases of 50 dollars or more.

I just realized that the arm on this figure is different too! The captain only had one blue arm, this one has two!
