Packaging

Inside the main box are two smaller boxes that have artist renderings of scenes from The Mandalorian. This is way better than the normal white boxes that are in the UCS set which gives a bit of higher quality to the set overall.

Minifigures

There are four minifigures in the set, The Mandalorian, Grogu, The Mythrol, and Kuiil. This version of The Mandalorian is from the first few episodes when he has on the durasteel tan armor. This is the same torso and legs that are inn the AT-ST Raider (75254) and the smaller Razor Crest (75292). The main difference here are the arms where there is new printing for the armor and shoulder pads. His head shows him with a stern expression with a stubbled face. He does have his shiny helmet or a separate hair piece as well. His accessory is a brick-built Amban sniper rifle.

Grogu is the same figure as from the aforementioned Razor Crest. The body has some of the robe detailing on the front. His accessory is the brick-built hover pod. It utilizes a clear dish at the bottom to simulate the pod floating.

The Mythrol wears a dark brown outfit that doesn’t have much detailing on it besides the belt on the front. His head is light blue and it has detailing of the fins on the sides. I’m glad to see that the back of the head has some detailing as well. His accessory is a pair of handcuffs.

Lastly, we have Kuiil the Ugnaught who helped Din Djarin. He has a brown outfit with a scarf going around the collar. The olive green arms look too bright compared to his on-screen counterpart. He has a dual-molded head that has his goggles molded on top of his wrinkly face. His accessory is a wrench.

Build

As with other larger Star Wars UCS set, there is a Technic frame for the Razor Crest and surprisingly, part of the ship’s shape can already be seen.

For the next few sets of bags, you’ll start building the interior. A lot of various tile pieces cover the floor and with the way they are laid out, it looks good. You also build part of the front of the ship here as well.

After the fourth bag, the walls and more of the frame of the ship goes up. An upper layer of Technic beams provide additional support later on. More of the ship’s shape also can be seen with the slight curve. There’s also some accessories such as the storage area and a spot for Boba Fett’s gear.

At the end of bag 5, more of the upper wall of the ship is built. Here we have more brackets, beams, and bricks are placed to give more support to the ship.

The back of the ship is built next with a whole Technic frame assembly that is secured to the main part of the ship using Technic pins.

Following that, the rear ramp door for the ship is built that has a panel of tiles which uses hinges to connect the lower door to the upper part.

At the end of the first instruction booklet, the front of the ship has a covering to give it the curvy look.

Bags 10-14 gives you the parts for panels for each side of the ship. They are connected by the way of the exposed clips. The landing gears are also built here and they attach to the sides and are covered up using an assembly that clips on around it.

Before we cover up the top of the Razor Crest, we add more accessories inside including the minifigure-sized carbon-freezing chamber and a weapons cabinet.

There is a small assembly for the cockpit seating and also a space for Grogu’s hover pram. There’s also some Frog-Lady’s eggs in the jar behind him as well.

There are some gaps that need to be filled in so some more panels are clipped on to the sides of the cockpit. There’s a slight curve to it because of the ball joints used.

Bags 18 and 19 are dedicated to the panel for the top rear of the ship. The use of ball joints and clips allow the shape of it to take place.

Bags 20 and 21 are for the end sections of the top of the ship. They use Technic beams along with tiles and plates to give the distinct shapes. I had no expectations for the set but I was surprised that they just sit on top and not connected to anything.

Bags 22-25 are for the two side engines and the section that connect the two. There is some weight to the whole assembly and was shocked how sturdy it was given the thin panel in between.

Bags 26-33 are used for the coverings for the engines. It uses some of the newer wheel hubs and behind that are some chain links to give it some detailing. Curved bricks are used to cover up the rest of the engines which go on the brackets and bricks with studs on the side. The whole build is similar on both engines.

Bags 34 and 35 are used for the whole canopy covering in front of the ship. Again, it uses a lot of curved bricks to achieve that look. There are a couple of cannons to the side of cockpit window.

In bag 35, there is a small build for the escape pod that goes on top of the Razor Crest. It has enough room for one minifigure.

For the final bag, we have the minifigure stand as well as the parts for the Blurrg. He looks pretty cute as it stands on two legs with some short arms. The head and tail are on ball joints so there is some movement there. The back has an area for the saddle for Kuiil to stand on.

For the stand, this will be one of the last few UCS sets to have a sticker for the plaque as LEGO will be moving to printed plaques in the future.

Results

Although the LEGO Star Wars UCS The Razor Crest (75331) does look very impressive, the set is marred by some things. The main issue is the price point of $599.99 which might be a little out of reach for general Star Wars fans.

LEGO Star Wars UCS The Razor Crest (75331)

There are also a lot of stickers that you have to put on and for it to be a UCS set at this price point, I’m still not sure why LEGO hasn’t opted for printed parts. Although there are four minifigures, another one or two additional ones would’ve been great like Frog-Lady, Peli Motto, or Migs Mayfeld. Lastly, it may seem that LEGO was going for a larger minifigure-scale ship, it looks to be way too big. Most likely this is for the interior detail of the ship.

Last thing I didn’t like about it is how fragile it is. The top of the ship is just laid on top and those pieces are somewhat flimsy aside from the engine section. I didn’t think I was too rough putting the coverings on but the smaller sections literally fell apart on me.

As for things that I liked about the Razor Crest, I do like how it looks as a whole. You do get a good balance of studs out to plates on the exterior. The interior does look pretty decent with the carbon-freezing chamber and the storage area for Boba Fett’s gear. It does have enough room for the Blurrg as well which was unexpected.

The Ultimate Collector Series sets are a premium line for the LEGO Star Wars theme and it may not be for everybody. The line is meant to be the top of the line but there had to be compromises here and there. LEGO has been catering more to the adult builders in the past few years and this set is no exception.
