New LEGO Shop@Home Design Launched Worldwide

LEGO Shop@Home

If you haven’t been LEGO Shop@Home recently, you may have noticed some changes. That is because yesterday a new design has has been rolled out worldwide. Pretty much everything you’ve known and love has changed in some way.

I’ve read there are still some issues with the cart and the checkout process but hopefully that’ll be fixed soon. Also there are discount codes for various countries but it doesn’t seem to have one for the US.

Drastic change is something at people don’t really like when they first see it but maybe over time, that will change. Check out some of the features in the video below.

LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales Rumored Set for 2017

Remember there was a rumor that we may be getting some LEGO sets based on the upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales which turned out to be false? If may seem that the rumor may indeed be true. According to one of my sources, they sent me a message regarding sets based on the movie and word has it that there will only be one fairly large set, with the price range around $200-$250. It was stated that it may be one of the new pirate ships in the franchise, possibly the Dying Gull or the Silent Mary. If you’ve read up on the movie, the Dying Gull and the Silent Mary are the two new pirate ghost ships that will be featured in the film.

LEGO did a couple of ships back in 2011 for PotC: On Stranger Tides with The Black Pearl (4148) and Queen Anne’s Revenge (4195) but it’ll be cool to have another ship to add to the fleet if this rumor is true about the LEGO PotC: Dead Men Tell No Tales set. We’re still a long ways away from the premiere of the movie in May 26, 2017 but hopefully we’ll be able to get more concrete information by the end of this year or early next year.

The Master: A LEGO Ninjago Short Sneak Peek

The LEGO Ninjago Movie

Earlier today, USA Today released a new clip from The Master: A LEGO Ninjago Short which will be shown in theaters before Storks. The short clip features Master Wu, voiced by Jackie Chan, going up against a Chicken, voiced by Abbi Jacobson. The LEGO Ninjago Movie will be in theaters September 22, 2017 and is filled with big name actor and actresses including Chan and Jacobson. Check out the clip for The Master: A LEGO Ninjago Short below.

LEGO’s Profit Falls in US in First Half of 2016

I usually don’t report on LEGO’s numbers but here’s something that’s a little interesting. The Wall Street Journal is reporting that LEGO’s net profit for the first half of 2016 has dropped by 2% as compared to 2015. If you’re talking currency, that’s DKr3.49bn ($525 million) which is a slight drop from DKr3.55bn in the same time from last year. While sales dropped here in the US, they increased by more than 10% over in Europe as well as in Asia.

LEGO’s Chief Financial Officer John Goodwin stated, “In the U.S., we acknowledge that we have not provided the initiatives and support needed to keep the same high level of growth.”

LEGO also stated that a rapid increase in the number of employees, by adding 3,500 new workers in 2016, along with investing in a factory in China has impacted profit growth.

It’s not that surprising that sales have slipped here in the US as there have been some things have happened like with the Porsche 911 GT3 RS being out of stock for a while and the first LEGO Star Wars UCS set of 2016 being fairly lackluster. Even then, I don’t see it being a big deal. With the holiday season just around the corner, LEGO looks to end the year on a high note and continue being the top toy company.

LEGO Star Wars First Order General (5004406) Coming as a Toys R Us Promotion in September?

LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens First Order General (5004406)

Way back in May, I reported that the LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens First Order General (5004406) was listed on Toys R Us’ website. It’s been available at LEGOLAND parks as well as being given out with purchases at San Diego Comic Con but there hasn’t been much info since then on how the majority of the country can get it besides from the secondary market.

Jason over at BrickVibe sent over an image of the Toys R Us October 2016 LEGO calendar and shown on the last week of September, there’s a promotion for a free LEGO Star Wars gift with a $30 LEGO Star Wars purchase. My guess is that the gift could possibly be the First Order General minifigure polybag. I’ll try to confirm whether or not this is correct when I’m able to check Toys R Us’ inventory when I go back to work.

LEGO Ideas First 2016 Review Stage Results Coming at End of September

The Second 2016 Review Stage deadline has now passed and there are a whopping twelve projects that qualified to be reviewed by the LEGO Jury. This also means that the Third 2016 Review Stage is underway and will go all the way until January 9, 2017.

While all of that is happening, LEGO is finishing up another review and has announced that the results for the First 2016 Review Stage will be revealed at the end of September. In that Review Stage, there are nine amazing projects that qualified including Fossil Museum, Gingerbread House, Modular Train Station, Old Fishing Store, Jedi High Council, Particle Accelerator, Jurassic Park Visitor Center, Rolling BB-8, and Johnny Five. Let us know in the comments which one(s) from that list are you hoping will become an official LEGO Ideas set in the near future?

LEGO Star Wars StarScavenger (75147) Review

LEGO Star Wars StarScavenger (75147)

With my second review of the LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures sets sent over by LEGO, I have the larger of the two sets with the StarScavenger (75147). I’ve already reviewed the Eclipse Fighter (75145) a few days ago. It consists of 558 pieces and retails for $49.99. Like with the other set, this is a pretty good price to piece ratio which rarely happens with licensed sets. The contents of the box include five numbered sets, the instruction booket, and a small sticker sheet. I think my set had an error because I got two sticker sheets.

**WARNING: If you haven’t watched LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures, I suggest watching it over on Disney XD as it does have an interesting original storyline which is set between Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back and Episode VI: Return of the Jedi. There will be some minor spoilers in the reviews.**
