New DK LEGO Build Your Own Adventure Books

LEGO Star Wars: Build Your Own Adventure

Later this year, DK will be releasing some new books in the Build Your Own Adventure series which allows readers to get ideas for creating objects for a particular LEGO theme. The first book is LEGO Star Wars: Build Your Own Adventure and it includes a Y-Ying Starfighter build and a Rebel Pilot minifigure which is basically a Microfighters set.

A book with bricks that inspires kids to build, play, and learn, LEGO® Star Wars™: Build Your Own Adventure combines more than 50 inspirational ideas for building with enthralling story starters from the world of LEGO Star Wars.

Organized into five chapters based on different planets in the Star Wars universe, readers will use their builds to break prisoners out on Cloud City and spy on the Imperial Army on Endor. Model ideas will inspire readers of various ages and abilities, with an appropriate mix of easy, medium, and harder builds.

LEGO Star Wars: Build Your Own Adventure will get kids inspired to build and play out adventures of their own, and it comes with bricks and instructions to build an exclusive LEGO Star Wars model to add to their collection.

The other book is called LEGO City: Build Your Own Adventure. The set that will be included is a Fire Truck and it comes with a Firefighter minifigure. The has the same premise as the previous book and it gives you ideas on on how to create stuff for your City.

LEGO Ideas Second 2015 Review Results Announced

Earlier today while I was as work, LEGO has announced the results for the projects from the Second 2015 Review Stage that will be now become official LEGO Ideas sets in the near future. Yes, you hear that right, sets, as in two has passed the review stage and have now moved on to the design phase and well on their way to becoming sets that we will be able to purchase

The first project will please classic car fans as the Caterham Super Seven by Carl Greatrix is the first set announced. The project is based on the British sports car.

The other project will be become an official LEGO Ideas set is the Brick-Built Adventure Time Figures by aBetterMonkey. Now you will be able to create your favorite characters from the hit TV series.

LEGO Ideas has also announced that the Star Citizen F7A Hornet, which has been through two review periods, will not be considered any longer.

Of course, there’s no details of pricing and availability for the Caterham Super Seven the the Brick-Built Adventure Time Figures but I’ll let you know once the information becomes available.

New Marvel Captain America: Civil War Trailer and Rumored Fourth Civil War Set

If you haven’t seen it yet, a new trailer for Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War was released earlier today and there was a ton of action throughout. At the end of the trailer there’s surprise appearance but many of us who follow the storyline, we already know who it is:

As for the LEGO sets, three sets have already been released in conjunction with the movie:

Black Panther Pursuit (76047)
Crossbones’ Hazard Heist (76050)
Super Hero Airport Battle (76051)

However, there’s also a rumored fourth Super Heroes Civil War set (76067) that’s supposed to come out this summer which we haven’t seen yet. The most likely reason we haven’t seen any images of it yet is probably because to conceal the identity of said surprise character until the new trailer came out. Hopefully we see something soon and it’ll be what fans were waiting for.

Bricks Issue 10 Press Release

Bricks Magazine Issue 10

The folks over at Bricks has sent over a press release for Issue 10 of the magazine. This latest issue focuses on the Super Heroes theme from both DC and Marvel.

Bricks Issue 10 – Calling all heroes

The time has come to stand and be counted as superheroes battle their arch rivals in the latest edition of Bricks. Issue 10 explores the great rivalries between our favourite heroes and villains from the ever-expanding universes of Marvel and DC Comics, both popular licenses in the LEGO world that have spawned some of the greatest minifigures to date.

The journey begins in the 1960s, deep underground into the newly released retro Batcave set. Inspired by the Adam West era, this giant set is packed with all of our favourite characters and a beautiful Batmobile. This is the latest big exclusive LEGO release and despite some criticism from the online community, we’re confident it will prove to be a big hit. The potential for collectors and customisers alone is huge.

Outside the Batcave Lucy Boughton investigates the best LEGO villain figures before taking you around her amazing Poison Ivy Lair. Next stop is Arkham Asylum as we look at the amazing work of Louis Blackwell, a man who is as talented with a pen as he is with the brick as you will see from his one-off exclusive Bricks superhero piece.

We chat with Arthur Parsons of TT Games and get the inside line on the new Avengers console offering, and if this wasn’t enough there is plenty

Official LEGO Halloween Costumes Sneak Peek

Last year, I reported there would be some official LEGO Halloween costumes coming out later this year by local costume company, Disguise. Although it’s still early in the year, it looks like there was a sneak peek at a couple of the costumes from the New York Toy Fair last month by FamilyGamer TV.

In their video, they showed off a costume of Clay Moorington from LEGO Nexo Knights and Lloyd Garmadon from LEGO Ninjago. The costumes look to be made out of the soft cloth and foam while the masks are plastic with a transparent mesh for the eyes.

There’s no other costumes shown but we now know there will be at least three themes for the costumes including Nexo Knights, Ninjago, and Mixels. The LEGO costumes from Disguise are scheduled to be available at retailers in fall 2016.

Thanks to Jenn for the heads up.
