New LEGO Monthly Mini Build Program Changes

LEGO Monthly Mini Build Changes

If you haven’t been to the LEGO Monthly Mini Build events for a while, there’s a new change coming in July that you may want to know about. Normally, kids and their families usually line up for the event. Starting in July, parents are now required to register to participate in the Monthly Mini Builds and if you line up the day of the event without registering, you won’t be able to get one. No rainchecks are allowed either. This change is probably to reduce the traffic at the LEGO Stores. Below is what the flyer that LEGO Store employees have started to hand out today says regarding the upcoming change.

LEGO Star Wars Super Star Destroyer (10221) Destroyed

You may have already watched this but yesterday, many LEGO fans saw something Wired did to the now retired LEGO Star Wars Super Star Destroyer (10221) to celebrate Star Wars Day. If you haven’t seen the video yet, you can experience it below. I think Sir Alec Guinness said it best as Obi-Wan Kenobi, “There was great disturbance in the Force. as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror.”

LEGO Star Wars Character Encyclopedia: Updated and Expanded White Boba Fett

Since Star Wars fans are celebrating May the 4th worldwide today, we have a fairly new minifigure to review, the White Boba Fett from the LEGO Star Wars Character Encyclopedia: Updated and Expanded by DK Books. This version of Boba Fett is based on the Ralph McQuarrie prototype Mandalorian armor used for a screentest in 1978.

The White Boba Fett minifigure itself is highly detailed with printing that is very accurate to McQuarrie’s concept design in all aspects from the helmet with the red triangle above the visor, to the torso and the legs which also has a pouch printing. There are also some accessories included with him such as the antenna for the helmet and a white jetpack.

Overall, the White Boba Fett is a great addition to any collection. He’s a very popular character in the Star Wars Universe and it’s a nice update to the 2010 version. Again, this White Boba Fett is only available with the purchase of the LEGO Star Wars Character Encyclopedia: Updated and Expanded.

LEGO Star Wars Collectible Posters Release Schedule

For those who have been wondering when LEGO will be releasing the free collectible LEGO Star Wars posters, they have announced the dates that each one will be available. For Episode IV: A New Hope, it is currently available during the May the 4th weekend until Monday, May 4 with any LEGO Star Wars purchase. For the rest of the posters up until October, you will only have a week to get each one.

Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back – June 22-28
Episode VI: Return of the Jedi – July 20-26
Episode I: The Phantom Menace – August 24-30
Episode II: Attack of the Clones – September 21-27
Episode III: Revenge of the Sith – October 26-November 1

Each of the posters will be added automatically to your shopping cart with qualifying purchases. They will also be available at LEGO Stores as well. The only downside of the posters is that they already come folded up so you won’t have any pristine ones unless you managed to get them during Star Wars Celebration last month.

Toys R Us LEGO Star Wars Mini Wookiee Gunship Building Instructions

LEGO Star Wars Mini Wookiee Gunship

If you missed out on the Toys R Us LEGO Star Wars building event today for the Mini Wookiee Gunship, my friend John has sent over the images of the building instructions for you to create your own with parts from your collection. The build consists of only 41 pieces and the finished build has a pretty nice look to it. From what I heard, today’s event was pretty popular throughout the US but unfortunately I wasn’t able to make it to mine.

Update: My other friend Charlie just sent over a PDF scan for you to download if you desire.

LEGO The Simpsons Minifigures Series 2 (71009) Review

Way back in August of last year, there was talk about the Series 2 LEGO The Simpsons Minifigures (71009) even though Series 1 was still in stores. That was when speculation started up of who will be included in Series 2 before LEGO officially revealed them back in March.

There are 60 minifigures in a box and you can pretty much find three complete sets in a full unopened box. Each of the packets are $3.99 and they contain a random character from the wave. I’ve managed to collect all 16 from Series 2 on my first try with the help of my feel guide which hopefully you can use as well to find the character(s) you want.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens Product Image Revealed

This isn’t technically a LEGO post but StarWars.com has posted an image of the packaging for the Star Wars: The Force Awakens products which shows Kylo Ren on the top right corner. I’m going to guess that The Force Awakens LEGO sets will also feature Kylo on the boxes as well. LEGO has been featuring various characters such as a Clone Troopers, Darth Maul, Yoda, Darth Vader, and a Stormtrooper on the box packaging for the sets for a while now and I assume Kylo will be on the boxes next.

Disney has pretty much kept their products under complete lockdown as we haven’t even seen anything remotely close to a leak so it’ll be even cooler when the products are finally released on September 4 during “Force Friday.” Of course, we already knew of the date when Jedi News reported it back in January. The LEGO Star Wars Constraction Buildable Figures are also set to be released on the same day as well.
