LEGO Ghostbusters Stay Puft Marshmallow Man at SDCC 2014

LEGO Stay Puft Marshmallow Man - SDCC 2014

Yesterday, LEGO sent out some press images of some of the builds you can expect to see at San Diego Comic Con 2014. I held off on reporting it because I wanted everybody to have time and soak in all the news that went on including exclusive The Collector minifigure, the report on the Batmobile and the Ghost exclusive sets, as well as the Unikitty exclusive minifigure.

One of these LEGO builds is a statue of the Ghostbusters Stay Puft Marshmallow Man. It stands 25″ high and 19″ wide and weighs around 18lbs. Mr. Stay Puft took over 60 hours to create and is built with 2,654 bricks. It will be displayed at the LEGO booth (#2829) throughout the convention next week. Check out more images of Stay Puft Marshmallow Man and a time-lapse video (via FBTB) below:

The other build that you can see at the LEGO booth is the LEGO builds is the Guardians of the Galaxy Rocket Raccoon and Groot. The build is over 7 feet high and 4 feet wide. It took the builders 350 hours to design and build and consists of 28,251 bricks. You will be able to take a picture with it at the LEGO booth.

Unikitty Exclusive Minifigure at San Diego Comic Con 2014

The LEGO Movie SDCC 2014

Yahoo Movies has revealed another exclusive minifigure that will be given away at San Diego Comic Con 2014 and that is The LEGO Movie Unikitty. This version of Unikitty will have a double-sided head with a “Cuteskitty” on one side and a “Cheerkitty” on the other. The article doesn’t mention how the giveaway will be handled but I’m going to assume that it will be like last year where tickets are handed out and winners are listed at the LEGO booth.

Also in the image above on the right side, it shows some kind of The LEGO Movie set that is scheduled to be released in January 2015. There’s no other details at this time but you can see the set includes a Micro Manager, Angry Kitty, Batman with his grappling hook and Batarang, and a Skeletron with a gun.

Update: Below are images of the set from SDCC.

More LEGO San Diego Comic Con 2014 Exclusive Sets Revealed

Yesterday, it was revealed that there will be an exclusive LEGO Marvel Guardians of the Galaxy Rocket’s Warbird sold at San Diego Comic Con 2014. The Wall Street Journal has also revealed two other sets that will be sold at the event: a classic Batmobile from the television series and the Ghost from the Star Wars Rebels animated TV show. There are no images of the set but the article notes the sets will be sold for $39.99 each and there will be 1,000 sets available with 250 sold each day.

LEGO seems to be going all out this year at SDCC 2014 with all the exclusives on hand. Stay tuned for more details as these exclusives are slowly being revealed every day.

Update: Yahoo Movies has an image of the LEGO Star Wars Rebels The Ghost.

San Diego Comic Con 2014 Exclusive Minifigure Revealed

LEGO Guardians of the Galazy - The Collector SDCC 2014 Exclusive Minifigure

The Wall Street Journal has revealed that LEGO will again be giving out four minifigures this year at San Diego Comic Con 2014. They have revealed that The Collector from LEGO Marvel Guardians of the Galaxy will be one of these minifigures.

Now that we know that LEGO will again be giving away these minifigures, many people, including scalpers, will be trying to get their hands on one of these minifigures. There’s no word yet on how the giveaways will be handled given last year’s debacle.

LEGO Wall Redesign by Bruce Lowell

It’s always interesting to see how other builders’ store their LEGO collection. Renowned brick artist Bruce Lowell has recently redesigned his studio and he has documented the changes on his site to show what he has done to reorganize his collection. Bruce explains the different types of storage containers he uses to organize his bricks including Stock-On, Sterilite, Darice, and Plano.

After seeing images of his finished wall, I emailed Bruce asking how he sorts his LEGO elements. Some people may sort by color and some may sort by type. Bruce does a combination of both. Bruce notes that he sorts about 70% of his part types excluding all bricks and plates, slopes, wings/wedges, less used and larger parts (such as panels, wheels, animals, TECHNIC, house parts). However, he does sort all non-printed minifigure body parts, accessories, small hinges, rare slopes and small curved slopes, detailed pieces such as bars and taps, small animal parts, transparent parts, tiles, SNOT bricks, and much more. Each of these part types and the containers that hold them are contingent on the amount that he has in each color family.

Check out how Bruce redesigned his wall on his website and maybe it’ll give you some inspiration when it is time to reorganize your building area.
