LEGO Collectible Minifigures Series 11 (71002) Official Images

LEGO Collectible Minifigures Series 11 (71002)

LEGO has posted the official images of all the minifigures from Series 11 of the LEGO Collectible Minifigures line. They will be available September 1st. LEGO has also updated their website with all the characters’ bios. Also I found something a little interesting on the Minifigures minisite. You’ll notice that Mr. Gold is on the turntable viewer and listed him in Series 11 but when you click on him, it will list him in Series 10. Will Mr. Gold be available in Series 11 packets as well or was it an error? If it is an error, better hurry and start searching through Series 10 packets before they’re off the shelves.

LEGO Collectible Minifigures Series 11 (71002) - Pretzel Girl

Pretzel Girl

“Who needs a phone when you can yodel?”

Every morning, the Pretzel Girl dresses up in her traditional clothes and climbs up to the hills to practice her yodeling. She has to do it far away from her village, because her very impressive yodel can be heard for miles around and has been known to occasionally cause avalanches.

With the sheer volume and pitch-changes of her yodeling song, the Pretzel Girl shares all of the latest news with her fellow yodelers in distant towns, and they yodel right back with everything that’s going on with them. It might be easier to use a phone or e-mail, but somehow it just wouldn’t be as much fun!

“Let’s groove.”

The Saxophone Player is a Minifigure of few words. While others chatter away, he prefers to let his music do the talking for him.

LEGO Responds to SDCC 2013 Exclusive Minifigure Giveaway

This whole week, I’ve been following FBTB’s discussion about the LEGO exclusive minifigure giveaways at the 2013 San Diego Comic Con. To give you a backstory of the situation, there were individuals who thought that the whole giveaway was rigged. There were attendees who noticed various things that the LEGO staff was doing that was suspicious and made it seem that the giveaway was not a legitimate giveaway such as staff giving people raffle tickets from the bags while having the “winning” tickets in their hands already for when kids go by. Also, people claim that the staff already knew the winning raffle ticket numbers before they were handed out. An attendee also listed more things that made it seem like the raffle was fixed. As a result, a LEGO public relations person has responded to the accusations that the attendees brought up:

Regarding the SDCC minifigure raffle, we can assure you that, contrary to the speculation, the giveaway was in no way rigged or predetermined. After several years at SDCC where minifigure giveaways have left room for improvement, we did implement a new system this year, which was then adapted at the request of the SDCC organizers. Many of the things that are being discussed online about the manner in which we conducted the raffle are not based in fact.

We acknowledge and regret that there were crowd control issues on Thursday, but those were rectified, and the new process for the raffle ran smoothly for the remainder of the show. We did not

LEGO CUUSOO FTL: Faster Than Light Achieves 10000 Supporters

The latest LEGO CUUSOO project to reach the 10000 supporters needed to be reviewed by LEGO to have the opportunity to become an official set is the FTL: Faster Than Light by CrashSanders and GlenBricker. The project is based on an real-time strategy indie video game from Subset Games and there are 15 micro-scale ships that were presented to the community to get it’s support. The micro-scale ships are similar to the Star Wars Planet sets in that it includes a ship, a minifigure, and a planet. Congratulations to CrashSanders and GlenBricker for this amazing achievement. Below is the official comments from LEGO.

Congratulations on 10,000 supporters, CrashSanders and GlenBricker!

2013.08.01
Here we are, after only 6 months! While this project didn’t travel at the speed of light, it didn’t do bad for itself either. Okay, lame jokes aside, the fan community that sprung up around this project is really inspiring. Watching LEGO fans come together to work on this project and support it has really made us proud of the LEGO CUUSOO Community!

Of course, these little ships have a great collectability and history has proven that LEGO CUUSOO projects based on video games can have huge appeal.

What happens now?
This project moves from the Idea stage to the Review stage. A “LEGO Review Board” composed of designers, product managers, and other key team members will examine the idea. We’ll build concept models and determine if the concept meets our high standards for what it takes to be a LEGO product. This includes factors

“New” LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Video Game Screenshots

Wolverine & Silver Samurai

There are a couple of “new” LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Video Game screenshots of some more of characters that will be in the game. Why did I put new in quotes? It’s because if you were at the LEGO Marvel panel at the 2013 San Diego Comic Con, you’ve probably already seen these shots from the character reveal and gameplay. For the individuals who didn’t get to see the panel, TT Games has released some screenshots of Wolverine, Jean Grey, Silver Samurai, and Viper. All four characters are available as playable characters. Also, don’t forget there is still time to pre-order the game from Walmart and get the Iron Patriot minifigure and the Gun Mounting System (30168). If you’re across the pond in the UK, the minifigure is available through Amazon.co.uk. LEGO Marvel Super Heroes will be released on October 22 here and November 15 in the UK.

LEGO Star Wars Corporate Alliance Tank Droid (75015) Review

The summer wave of the 2013 LEGO Star Wars sets have started to show up in stores and a friend urged me to pick up one of these sets yesterday. There are only a few of the summer sets that I am looking to get and one of them was the Corporate Alliance Tank Droid (75015). This set recreates the scene of the start of the First Battle of Geonosis although it wasn’t seen in Episode II.

This set contains 271 pieces and retails for $19.99 which is a great $0.07/piece although it is a little skewed. I’ll explain more of that later. The box contains two numbered bags, one instruction booklet, and two grey inverted dishes.
