LEGO CUUSOO Space Marines! Achieves 10000 Supporters

After almost a year since the Space Marines! project by NickRoyer was submitted to LEGO CUUSOO, the project has finally reached the 10000 supporters needed to be considered to be an official LEGO set. The Space Marines are loosely based on the Galaxy Patrol Collectible Minifigures so there wouldn’t be an issue with licensing or any Intellectual Property (IP) issues either. The theme also could also fit in with the new Galaxy Squad sets but these are totally separate themes so LEGO might not want to have both themes selling at the same time. From what we’ve seen in the past, Space themed LEGO sets do sell really well so it would be beneficial for all parties involved but that’s up to the LEGO Jury to decide. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens after the review. Congratulations to Nick for this amazing achievement! Below is the official LEGO comment.

Congratulations on 10,000 Supporters, NickRoyer, GreenLead, and CrashSanders!

Space Marines is a fun concept, well thought out, and with broad-based support. You’ve done a great job of presenting it concisely with a lot of possibilities. Further it is a great example of a high quality concept refined over time into something that looks like it has real potential as a LEGO product.

Congratulations on achieving 10,000 supporters. We now officially advance this project to the Review phase.

LEGO Galaxy Squad High Quality Images

Hoth Bricks has posted high quality images of all the LEGO Galaxy Squad sets. I’m really liking all the minifigures in the sets and the vehicles aren’t that bad looking. This looks to be a hot theme for the younger audience because Space themed sets usually sell very well on the market.

LEGO The Hobbit An Unexpected Gathering (79003) Review

The story of The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings all started in the Bag End where Bilbo Baggins was hired by Thorin and Company to be their guide on their Quest of Erebor. LEGO has depicted that scene in the An Unexpected Gathering (79003) set. The set contains 652 pieces and retails for $69.99, about $0.11/piece. There are four numbered bags, two instruction booklets, and three loose base plates in the box. An Unexpected Gathering was widely released on November 27, 2012.

The Most Expensive LEGO Brick

Brick Envy has acquired the rarest and most expensive LEGO brick in existence and is selling it for a mere $14,449.99. This 2×4 brick is made of 14 caret solid gold and weighs in at 25.65g. The brick is stored in it’s original custom box that is embossed with the older LEGO logo and sits on a velvet interior.

This masterpiece was given to LEGO employees at the Hohenwestedt, Germany factory who had 25 years of employment as well as exclusive business partners of LEGO. Only one or two of these rare pieces were given out from 1979-1981 so only a few exist in the world. Working anywhere for 25 years is a big milestone and LEGO rewarded their employees very nicely for their anniversary.

If you have $14,500 laying around and want to own one of the rarest LEGO bricks ever, head over to Brick Envy and snatch up this beauty.

LEGO Star Wars Battle of Hoth (75014) Set Revealed

LEGO Star Wars Battle of Hoth (75014) Box Art

There are now images of the new LEGO Star Wars Battle of Hoth (75014) set that is set to be released in 2013. Russian site Exoforce.ru has posted images as well as the description of the set. I’ve translated the description using Google Translate below. My initial impressions of the set is that it’s a very nice looking one. Although the display shows seven minifigures, the box art shows five including Luke Skywalker, General Rieekan, two Hoth Rebel Trooper, and a Snowtrooper. We’re not sure which is correct as of this time. You also get a snowspeeder, a speederbike, a probe droid, a communications tower, a turret gun, and a awesome-looking Tauntaun mount. Pricing and the number of pieces are also unknown at this time. Now all we need is an updated AT-AT to complete this scene.

LEGO Star Wars Battle of Hoth (75014)

Go with Luke Skywalker on the ice-covered planet of Hoth in his snow-speeder! Beware tranches command center with General Rieekan Imperial pilots and catch speeders snow attacking Defense Forces rebels. Shoot from the turret guns! The set includes five minifigures with various weapons and accessories: Luke Skywalker in clothing for snow speeder, General Rieekan, a rebel-infantryman from the planet Hoth and 2 snowspeeder pilots.
