LEGO Mini Mi App Update

Last month featured the release of a neat little app called Mini Mi and yesterday the developers released Version 1.1 for the app. The update makes the app runs much faster and a lot lighter on your devices. There were also some bugs that were fixed as well. In addition, you can now use the Mini Mi app on older iPod Touch devices. The devs are currently working on their next update which will include a native iPad version and also more expansion packs. Android fans will also be glad to know that the developers are working on an app for those devices.

The app is compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod touch (3rd generation), iPod touch (4th generation), iPod touch (5th generation) and iPad and requires iOS 6.0 or later. Expansion packs are $0.99 each but you can unlock all of them for $3.99. Did you know there are also secret codes that you can enter to get items for you Mini Me? Here’s a couple of them if you didn’t get them yet: “ledzep”, “minico”, “thewho”, and “sinvdr andcello”. Just follow the instructions below and enter the codes without the quotes to get your item(s). New codes are revealed on their Facebook and Twitter every Tuesday and Thursday.

LEGO CUUSOO Macross VF-1 Valkyrie Achieves 10,000 Supporters

The Macross VF-1 Valkyrie +Fast pack / Armored parts by maxvf1 is the latest project to reach 10,000 supporters on LEGO CUUSOO. The VF-1 Valkyrie is based on the variable fighter from the Japanese anime, The Super Dimension Fortress Macross. First submitted on October 1, 2011, it shows that slow and steady can also win the race and in this case, the race to 10,000 supporters. The Valkyrie becomes the very first “transforming” set to reach the review stage on CUUSOO and as well as the first set to qualify for the Winter Review stage. Since LEGO encourages creativity and imagination, it would be cool to see something like the Valkyrie with it’s transforming feature become an official set but we’ll see if LEGO can get a licensing deal done with Harmony Gold which has a pretty strict licensing policy.

Congratulations to maxvf1 for getting enough supporters for his Macross project! The Japanese Old Style Architecture project by taxon55 becomes the highest supported project on CUUSOO.

Congratulations on 10,000 supporters, maxvf1!

You did it! What a fantastic build and a great way to celebrate an iconic robot from Japanese animation in LEGO Bricks. As you say, combining construction play with the Valkyrie adds a new level of understanding of how to build transforming models.

What happens now?
This project moves from the Idea stage to the Review stage. A “LEGO Review Board” composed of designers, product managers, and other key team members will examine the idea. We’ll build concept models and determine if the concept

As you may or may not know, I am a photography fanatic. I love to take pictures of various things that happen throughout the day including pictures of LEGO related things. If you’re an Android or an iOS user feel free to follow me on Instagram under the username “Tormentalous”. There you can see my pictures of LEGO minifigures, sets, as well as other random non-LEGO things that you most likely won’t see here on The Brick Fan, sort of a behind the scenes kind of thing. Also if take pictures of LEGO related things on Instagram, feel free to let me know your username in the comments so I can check them out.

LEGO at New York Comic Con 2013

LEGO has been a big presence at various conventions throughout the years such as the Comic Cons in San Diego and New York. There’s been speculation of whether LEGO would make it to the 2013 New York Comic Con on October 10-13 and the news broke today that they will not be making an appearance this year. Last year, the company revealed the LEGO Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles line during NYCC and we were hoping there would be some sort of reveal during this year’s event. I guess they could be saving the reveals for a fully-fledged LEGO convention such as LEGO Fan Weekend or BrickWorld Fort Wayne coming up later this month instead of a convention that isn’t nearly as big as San Diego Comic Con. LEGO’s decision not to be at NYCC 2013 could also be a result of what happened during SDCC 2013 and the Super Heroes minifigure debacle. Does this also mean LEGO won’t be making any more appearances at future conventions such as next year’s NYCC and SDCC? Only time will tell.

Update: Thanks to the theBrickBlogger for the update on why LEGO will not be at New York Comic Con. Earlier this year, LEGO was in New York to reveal the giant X-Wing Starfighter to promote The Yoda Chronicles and most of their budget went to that event. That’s a sigh of relief as LEGO will probably be returning next year for future events. False alarm people!
