New LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Video Game Gameplay Footage

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Video Game

As we get closer to the release of the new LEGO Marvel Super Heroes video game, more images and videos from the developers have been released. TT Games has recently shot some new gameplay footage in the Asgard level. In the video, there are some new characters being played including Wolverine, Captain America, Thor, and Human Torch. If you remember, the first gameplay video showed Iron Man, Hulk, and Spider-Man defending Grand Central Station in New York City against the Abomination and the Sandman.

The game will feature more than 100 playable characters across the Marvel Universe with each character having their own special abilities. There are also hundreds of alternative costumes that you can unlock for the characters.

The game is now available for pre-order and if you get it from Walmarticon, you’ll get an Iron Patriot minifigure (30168) as a bonus. The offer is only valid on platform systems so handheld owners, you’re out of luck there. Amazon and GameStopicon also have pre-order bonuses but they aren’t as good the Iron Patriot minifigure.

BrickLink Sold to Nexon

The unofficial LEGO marketplace, BrickLink, has announced they have been sold to Korean game giant Nexon, creator of games such as MapleStory, Dragon Nest, etc. Former CEO Eliska Jezkova and Founder of Nexon Jung-Ju “Jay” Kim have issued a joint statement in regards to the acquisition (see below).

It’s a bit sad that BrickLink has been sold and so far there is mixed reactions in the forums. The site has been extremely helpful to LEGO users all around the world and now the companies will be working to get “BrickLink 2.0” up as soon as possible. Kim will soon be asking users for their input for ideas to improve functionality. We’re also hoping that the acquisition will help address BrickLink’s recent issues and help users have a more enjoyable experience there.

About a week ago I posted a special message to thank all of you for supporting us over the nearly three years since my son Dan died. I thank all those who sent personal messages to me about what BrickLink has meant to them. In my message, I mentioned some progress we made, and also the challenges we faced. Good news remaining is that, despite the challenges, business has been brisk and even impressive. When I took over the website in the name of my son, the representational visitor log (front page of BrickLink) was at about 50 million visitors. Today, it is at nearly 144 million visitors and counting. Nearly two-thirds of all those who visited BrickLink over the 13 years since

NASA’s Missions: Imagine and Build Contest on ReBrick

ReBrick is having a new contest in collaboration with NASA and The LEGO Group called NASA’s Missions: Imagine and Build. Winners of the contest will be able win some pretty nice prizes including recognition by NASA. The contest began yesterday and entries have to be submitted by July 31st, 2013 2:59pm CEST (8:59am EST). Judging will start on August 5th and the winners will be announced the week of September 1st. The competitions is split into two categories but you can enter into both if you like.

Imagine Our Future Beyond Earth

Builders 16 years old and older are invited to journey into space and beyond by creating one of NASA’s future missions with LEGO bricks. Builders can be imaginative as they wish, although their entry should reflect one of the missions NASA has listed on their website. These missions are planned until the 2030s so there should be no shortage of inspiration! All entries must be bookmarked to ReBrick in the “Building Challenge” category. The winners will be chosen by a committee of judges, please see official rules for details.

The grand prize includes 21101 LEGO CUUSOO Hayabusa set, signed by the LEGO designer Melody Louise Caddick, recognition and honorable mention on NASA.gov, and a collection of NASA memorabilia including a personalized signed lithograph of the astronaut from the judges committee. LEGO DC Universe Superman: Metropolis Showdown (76002) Review

With the impending release of the Man of Steel movie this month, LEGO has decided to create sets based on the movie. Here we have the LEGO DC Universe Superman: Metropolis Showdown (76002). This set has 119 pieces and retails for $12.99, a $0.11/piece ratio. It is the smallest of the three Man of Steel sets that were released. The box contains two unnumbered bags, two instruction booklets, and a couple of loose pieces. We weren’t sure why a set so small had two instruction booklets when LEGO could’ve fit it all in one booklet.

A Closer Look at The LEGO House

Earlier today, LEGO shared a concept video of the design for The LEGO House which will be opening in Billund, Denmark in 2016. The new experience center will be 80 meters by 100 meters and will be about 30 meters tall. From the top view as well on the inside, visitors can see a building that looks like giant LEGO bricks stacked “in a creative way to create an imaginative experience both outside and inside.”

There will be lots things to see and do including exhibition areas, a cafe, a LEGO store, and a public square which is all packed into 7,600 square meters of land. The LEGO House will be built in collaboration between the LEGO Group, the LEGO Foundation, and KIRKBI A/S. Once finished, the LEGO Group will manage the daily operations. LEGO estimates that the new building will attract 250,000 visitors annually. Check out the video below to see more of The LEGO House.

More LEGO Minecraft Sets To Be Released?

LEGO Minecraft

Hungarian site, KockaMania, is reporting that there will be two more LEGO Minecraft sets to be released in the future. There’s no official announcements about this yet about the details of the sets or release dates as of this writing so we’re just going to treat this as rumors for now.

  • LEGO 21105 – Minecraft II
  • LEGO 21106 – Minecraft III

With the first Minecraft (21102) set on LEGO CUUSOO gaining enough supporters in a very short amount of time, LEGO knew that they had a success on their hands. After the release of the sets on the retail market, LEGO had quickly sold out their initial 10000 set inventory for a period of time. We would sometimes find them at online retailers but they ran out of stock after finding out about them. LEGO then announced that they will be producing more sets to cover the demand and right now, the set is still available on Shop@Homeicon. Now we hear that there may be new sets to add to the initial set. This also means that Minecraft will be the first set on CUUSOO to have additional sets which we’re excited to see. This possibly opens the door to other LEGO CUUSOO projects that have passed the review stage to have more expansion sets in the future instead of being a one-and-done kind of thing.
