The Force is strong with this one. Amazon has reduced the price of the LEGO Star Wars R2-D2 (10225) set to $139.97, a whopping 22% off the retail price. This set would make a great Christmas gift for any Star Wars fan and with it on sale, now is a great time to pick it up. You can read my review of R2-D2 here.

CupIsHalfEmpty has posted images of the remaining sets for the new LEGO Galaxy Squad theme on his Flickr account. The theme looks more and more influenced by the movie, Starship Troopers, don’t you think? Look for these sets to probably hitting shelves soon. Which sets are you looking forward to getting?

The time for giving is upon us as we get closer to Thanksgiving and Christmas. The Brick Fan is proud to announce that we’ll be having our first ever contest to give away an unopened, exclusive LEGO City: Undercover Chase McCain Minifigure (5000281) from the Target Wii U preorder. These minifigures were only available for a limited time and I believe are out of stock in stores now. We will also include the collector’s card with the polybag. The prices for these minifigs will be definitely going up in the near future if you’re an investor but it also makes a great addition to your City collection.

Brickset is reporting that the new LEGO Galaxy Squad sets have arrived in Toys R Us stores in Canada. Brickset memeber, CupIsHalfEmpty, found a couple of the sets at the Winnipeg location, which wasn’t expected to be released until January. He has snapped pictures of the Space Swarmer (70700) and the Bug Obliterator (70705) on the shelves. You can also see the first images of the Galaxy Squad minifigures, shown on the bottom right corner.
The Bug Obliterator contains 711 pieces and retails for $99.99 CAD while the Space Swarmer has 86 pieces and retails for $14.99 CAD. Keep in mind that these are TRU prices and will be lower in other retail stores. It looks like this will be an expensive Christmas with The Hobbit sets coming out real soon.

Just a friendly reminder, LEGO will be having their “Brick” Friday sale this weekend and will be giving away a FREE exclusive limited edition 2012 Holiday Set (3300014) with a $99 purchase in stores or at Shop@Home. Plus, if you’re shopping at the physical stores, you can also get a FREE Holiday Pick-A-Brick Box with a $75 purchase. It’s like getting two free gifts for the price of one! For the online shopper, there FREE Shipping on orders of $99 or more. Check back often to see what sales will be going on at LEGO Shop@Home.

Brickset has reported that the first Hobbit polybag has been found at Toys R Us, the Mirkwood Elf Guard (30212) polybag. You get a really nice dark green hooded elf with a bow and arrow as his weapon. You also get a small tree with a torch on the side and a mushroom. But wait, there’s more! You also get a wine glass as well as a barrel. For only $4.99, this looks to be a hot selling polybag in the near future.
Update 1: It looks like the polybag has been pulled from the TRU website.
It’s been 8 years since the last Spider-Man set was released from LEGO for the Spider-Man 2 movie but in 2012, the wait is over. On July 23, the Spider-Man’s Doc Ock Ambush (6873) set was introduced. The set retails for $29.99 and consists of 295 pieces which is about $0.10/piece. There are three number bags, one instruction booklet, as well as comic book #5 in the Marvel Super Heroes series. The set is loosely based on the “Me Time” episode on the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon on Disney XD. One major difference between the set and the show is that Spider-Man was the one who was captured, not Iron Fist.
