LEGO Legends of Chima Razcals Raven Glider (70000)

When images of the LEGO Legends of Chima line came out, I had my eye on the Razcal’s Glider (70000). It turns out that the set is the smallest of the boxed sets in the theme. The set contains 109 pieces and retails for $11.99, a $0.11/piece ratio. The box has two instruction booklets and the set has the Razcal minifigure. YourCreativeFriends has done a video review of the set. Check it out below for more details of the Razcal’s Glider.

LEGO Mindstorms EV3 Announced Ahead of CES 2013

LEGO Mindstorms EV3

With the 2013 Consumer Electronics Show coming up in Las Vegas, LEGO has announced the newest addition to the LEGO Mindstorms line, the Mindstorms EV3. It was been 15 years since the first Mindstorms was released in 1998 and the new model will be replacing the 2009 Mindstorms NXT 2.0 line. The EV3 has many new features including an infrared sensor, a new Linux-based firmware, a USB port, and an SD card slot. The Linux firmware will be ready for the Android as well as the iOS operating systems. The set also comes with Bluetooth support, which lets you program it without being connected to the PC. This means you can control the EV3 with your Android smartphones or with your iOS devices. The software kit works on both Windows and Mac. The new Mindstorms EV3 is also backwards compatible with the older NXT sets. It will be available in the second half of 2013 and retails for $349.99. Read the official press release below.

LEGO DC Universe Super Heroes Batman Visual Dictionary Review

Back on Black Friday, I purchased a couple of LEGO books that were on sale and one of them included the DC Universe Super Heroes Batman Visual Dictionary by Dorling Kindersley Publishing. The book has 96 pages of almost everything you may want to know about the DC Universe LEGO sets. The book begins with a timeline of all the Batman sets starting in 2006 with the Batman Dragster: Catwoman Pursuit until the most recent DC Universe themed sets in 2012. It also goes in-depth describing all the vehicles in every single set and giving facts that you may have never knew about. In the back of the book, it tells you about the design team and how they come up with ideas for the sets.

As a bonus with all LEGO dictionaries, you also get an exclusive minifigure with the book. In this book, you get the Electo Suit Batman. It is the same suit that you can find in the LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes video game.

Overall, it’s a nice small book to add to your collection. It makes a good coffee table book as well. The Electro Suit Batman minifigure right now is is worth more on BrickLink than the cost of the book itself.

LEGO Star Wars Rancor Pit (75005) Review

LEGO first revealed the Star Wars Rancor Pit (75005) at San Diego Comic Con last summer. After building and reviewing Jabba’s Palace, the set felt incomplete without the Rancor Pit under it. Early this year, LEGO released the Pit in the first wave of 2013. The set contains 380 pieces and retails for $59.99, which comes to about $0.16/piece. The box contains one instruction booklet, four numbered bags, and two unnumbered bags.
