BrickLink Under Maintenance Mode Due to Possible Hacking Situation

If you’ve been on BrickLink the past few hours, you may have gotten a maintenance message but behind the scenes, the site may have been hacked. The main page gives the following message:

We apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused you. We are currently investigating some unusual activity, so it’s too early to speculate further. We will share more information once it’s available.

In addition, it also appears that there have been ransom messages sent out to a number of BrickLink accounts for both buyers and sellers wanting Cryptocurrency or else items and store inventories will get deleted.

Obviously, if you have a BrickLink account and have used the same password for other platforms, I would suggest changing those passwords just to be safe. There’s been no official word from BrickLink or LEGO at this time and we’ll see if they do give any updates on the situation.

Thanks to Michael on Meta for the heads up on this piece of news.

Note that one is different from the Christmas Fun VIP Add-On Pack (40609) which is currently available on the LEGO Shop. The parts in the Winter pack looks to be just a general items used during the winter time. LEGO Pick-a-Brick Removing Over 2,000 Elements Soon

Earlier today, LEGO announced on the LEGO Ambassador Network that they will be removing over 2,000 elements from the Pick-a-Brick service later this month. Some of these element are rather rare and can only be found in a handful of sets and usually Pick-a-Brick is an easier way to get them without going to the secondary market like BrickLink.

Rebrickable has provided a handy list on which parts will be removed from Pick-a-Brick on or before November 17. The parts do qualify for any promotions going on so if you want to make a sizeable order, now would be the best time to do so in case you have something on your list that’s currently on the choppinng block.
