KIRKBI Invests $1 Billion to Epic Games

Last week, LEGO announced a long-term partnership with Fortnite creators, Epic Games, to provide a safe and fun place in the metaverse for kids. Today, Epic Games announced a $2 billion round of funding to advance the company’s vision to build the metaverse and support its continued growth. KIRKBI, the family-owned holding company of The LEGO Group, along with Sony has invested $1 billion to the funding to create new social entertainment exploring the connection between digital and physical worlds.

KIRKBI CEO Søren Thorup Sørensen stated, “Epic Games is known for building playful and creative experiences and empowering creators large and small. A proportion of our investments is focused on trends we believe will impact the future world that we and our children will live in. This investment will accelerate our engagement in the world of digital play, and we are pleased to be investing in Epic Games to support their continued growth journey, with a long-term focus toward the future metaverse.”

LEGO Children’s Amusement Park (40529) GWP Revealed

A Taiwanese LEGO Certified Store has revealed the next April gift with purchase promotion with the LEGO Children’s Amusement Park (40529). The promo should be available from April 15-30 and the price threshold is listed as $3,200 TW but of course that will be converted to your country’s currency. There are some other sites that states certain countries will get it at various dates in the next few months so we’ll see what is going on with it.

April 15-30 – Mexico, South Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Hong Kong
May 1 – June 15 – China
May 16-30 – EU, Middle East, North America, Canada

LEGO Art Mickey Mouse (31202) Amazon Sale – April 2022

Amazon has recently put the LEGO Art Mickey Mouse (31202) on sale for 20% off the regular retail price. It is now listed at $95.99 which saves you $24 on it and is the lowest price the set has seen. If you’re a parts person, you do get 2,658 pieces, most of which are 1×1 round tiles. The alternate build for the set is Minnie Mouse and there are also free instructions for additional alternate builds for Mickey and Minnie.

LEGO Classic 90 Years of Play (11021) Promo Video

LEGO has done a neat yet traumatizing promotional ad for the upcoming LEGO Classic 90 Years of Play (11021) set. In the video, you can see LEGO designer George Gilliatt put what appears to be boxes of classic LEGO sets that helped shape what will be in the new LEGO Classic set into a compactor. The shot shows some of the boxes getting crushed but George has confirmed that none of the original boxes were actually harmed. The 1,100 piece 90 Years of Play (11021) set will be available starting on May 1 for $49.99.

LEGO Ideas STEM Building Contest for Future GWP Set

LEGO has recently kicked off a new STEM building contest on LEGO Ideas in which the winning build could become a future gift with purchase set. The build should have between 150-250 pieces and is a STEM-themed model that has some sort of movement to it. The grand prize winner will have the build become an official LEGO GWP and will also get the following:
