LEGO Donating MRI Scanner Sets to Hospitals

LEGO has been known in helping local communities and recently, LEGO has been sending out MRI scanners sets to hospitals to help prepare children with their treatments. The sets would aid in reducing anxiety and make their experience more playful and less scary.

The LEGO Foundation is in the process to improving the availability of the LEGO MRI Scanner set and will be sharing information for hospitals to request them along with educational materials. For those who work in the medical field and want to request the set, I would suggest following The LEGO Foundation Twitter page and their Linkedin for updates.

LEGO employee Erik Ullerlund Staehr had a great idea – to build a LEGO model of an MRI scanner that could help medical staff prepare children for treatment. This would reduce their anxiety and make their experience more playful and less scary. The MRI model is now being built by employees across the world to distribute to their local hospitals.

LEGO Celebrates 64th Brick Patent Day

LEGO today celebrates their 64th LEGO Brick Patent Day which is the day that the LEGO brick was patented in Denmark. It is one of biggest events in LEGO history because without it, we wouldn’t be building anything. Soon after the Danish patent was filed, applications in other countries followed. In addition to this day, LEGO will also be celebrating their 90th birthday in August and they will for sure be doing something for that as well.

LEGO Vintage Taxi (40532) Promotion Live on LEGO Shop

The promotion for the new LEGO Vintage Taxi (40532) is now live on the LEGO Shop. You can get it with purchases of $200/£200/200€ from now until February 13, while supplies last. The promo does stack with the Year of the Tiger (40491), at least in other countries until February 6. The tiger is sold out in the US but LEGO Stores might still have them in stock.

As for the Vintage Taxi, it’ll probably last until the end of the promo period since a lot of the newer LEGO exclusives are out of stock including the Boutique Hotel (10297) that goes well with it. Tack on the high price threshold and you’ll have a set that’ll sit around for a while. If you do make a purchase, make sure you use Rakuten to earn some cash back.

LEGO Vintage Taxi (40532) Gift with Purchase Details

LEGO has finally released the details for the upcoming LEGO Vintage Taxi (40532) gift with purchase set on the LEGO Shop. The build is based on a classic version of the 1930s Citroën Traction Avant and you can get it from January 28 to February 13 with purchases of $200/£200/200€, while supplies last. The set also includes a taxi driver minifigure along with some accessories as well.

With the price threshold at a pretty high limit and releasing on such short notice, supplies will no doubt last. The taxi does match well with the new Modular Buildings Collection Boutique Hotel (10297) although we’ll see if it comes back in stock since it’s been a very popular set and has been temporarily out of stock for a while.

LEGO Vintage Taxi (40532) Review

LEGO Vintage Taxi (40532)

The promotion for the LEGO Vintage Taxi (40532) is now live on the LEGO Shop and you can get it for free with purchases of $200 or more from now until February 13, while supplies last. It has 163 pieces and it features an old school style taxi along with the driver.

LEGO Vintage Taxi (40532)

The driver wears a blue shirt under a red jacket. His headpiece shows him with a moustache along with some mutton chops and he wears a beret. His briefcase holds a donut tile.

There’s also a small sidewalk area with a streetlight and a trash can.

LEGO Vintage Taxi (40532)

The vintage taxi has a black and yellow color scheme and is based on the 1930s Citroën Traction Avant. It is six-wide and the inside has enough room for the driver and a passenger. There’s nothing more too it and it does goes well in an existing City layout.

LEGO Vintage Taxi (40532)

The LEGO Vintage Taxi (40532) is a nice looking set but the $200 price threshold may be a little high for some. It does pair up well with the new Boutique Hotel (10297) as they both have similar styles and that itself should be enough to get it. Again, you have until February 13 to get your orders in for it.
