Thirty Six Projects Qualify for LEGO Ideas Third 2021 Review Stage

The LEGO Ideas Third 2021 qualifying stage has officially ended this morning and there were a total of 36 projects that will be moving on to the review stage. As usual, there are a number of licensed projects but there are also plenty of projects that are original ideas and don’t require a license. Below are the projects that will have a chance to become an official LEGO Ideas set. Which one(s) do you think will be moving on?

LEGO VIP Collectible Coins Available Again January 11

LEGO has announced that they will be bringing back the LEGO VIP Collectible Coins for those who missed it the first time around. For a limited time, while supplies last, you can get the coins in the LEGO Rewards Center starting on January 11. The times that they will be available are as listed below:

• In Australian and New Zealand: midnight Sydney time
• In Japan: midnight local time
• In Korea: midnight local time
• Europe: 11am CET/10am GMT
• United States and Canada: 9am EST

This second opportunity will only be available to VIP members who didn’t get any of the particular coins or coin holder which allow more people to get them. LEGO did state that if demand is low, they may open it up for VIPs to get a second coin. The coins originally cost 1,150 VIP points while the coin holder cost 700. I’m assuming they will be the same price as I see no reason why LEGO would change it.

LEGO® VIP collectible coins are back!

We’re making our LEGO® VIP collectible coins and coin holder available again on January 11, 2022 in our VIP Rewards Centre. Each coin (as well as the coin holder) is only available to VIP members who didn’t get any coins or weren’t able to complete their set last year. We expect supplies to run out quickly. If demand is lower than we expect, we may open the promotion up so VIP members can get a second coin. Keep an eye on the VIP

LEGO Chinese Traditional Festival 2022 Sets Now Available on LEGO Shop

The new 2022 LEGO Chinese Traditional Festival sets are now available for purchase in North America on the LEGO Shop. The Lunar New Year Traditions (80108) retails for $79.99 while the Lunar New Year Ice Festival (80109) is priced at $119.99 and both sets are the newest ones to celebrate the Lunar New Year.

In addition, the Year of the Tiger (40491) is also available as a gift-with-purchase set with purchases of $85 or more, while supplies last. The promo also doubles up with the LEGO Monkie Kid’s Underwater Journey (30562) polybag when you buy $40 on LEGO Monkie Kid or LEGO Ninjago sets. Be sure to use Rakuten to earn some cash back from your purchase.

Update: The Lunar New Year Traditions (80108) product listing is not coming up anymore. If the page does come up, the listing says “Coming Soon” so I’m not sure what’s going on with it.

LEGO Year of the Tiger (40491) Review

The LEGO Year of the Tiger (40491) promotion is now live on the LEGO Shop and you can get it for free with purchases of $85 or more, while supplies last. Coming in at 193 pieces, it continues the line of the Chinese New Year zodiac animals which started with these particular style and is the 8th one in the line if you don’t count the Year of the Snake (10250) which was a different style.

Similar to previous years, the box uses the front flap design and when you open it up, you also get an envelope to gift to another person if you like.

As for the tiger build itself, it is mostly static with the articulation only coming from the ears and the tail. This year’s build is a little bit more boring than other years but the cute, cartoony style is still there. You also get a small display stand that it can sit on.

Overall the LEGO Year of the Tiger (40491) is a fun little set that I looked forward to getting to add to my zodiac animal collection. For 2023, it’ll be the Year of the Rat so I’ll be looking forward to that. This promotion will run until January 27.

The Forestmen Secret Inn by FACEBRICKUP is the latest project to achieve 10,000 supporters on LEGO Ideas. The build features an inn that is surrounded by trees and is able to open up to show the interior. The project is the first one to reach the the First 2022 Review Stage.

LEGO Friends Theme Celebrates 10 Year Anniversary

LEGO x Pottery Barn Kids Collection Announced

LEGO has revealed a new collaboration between the company and Pottery Barn Kids for a decorative collection for around the house. It includes a number of items with LEGO designs such as a sheet set, quilt and shams, pajama sets, playmats, and beach towels.

The foundation to our brands coming together is our shared belief that only the best is good enough. We loved seeing the LEGO design principles of playful and iterative storytelling woven into the beautifully crafted Pottery Barn Kids pieces.
