LEGO Continuing to Support Families Impacted by COVID-19

Back in March, LEGO announced some new initiatives to support children and families impacted by COVID-19 and recently, they have recently revealed how they are continuing to support families. In the past few months, they have partnered up with more agencies in other countries to support the work in those local communities to supply essential services to families which you can check out below.

How we’re continuing to support families impacted by COVID-19

We committed to delivering learning through play support and vital supplies to crisis-affected children – here’s how we’re doing.

Back in March, as the impact of COVID-19 on children’s wellbeing and development became clear, we joined forces with the LEGO Foundation to pledge over US $50m to support children and families impacted by the pandemic.

Over the past few months, we’ve been working alongside new and existing partners to strengthen and support the work they are doing in our local communities to provide essential services to families during this time.

Here’s a quick look at some of the many ways in which our partners are supporting families through these unprecedented times – whether it be bringing learning through play, ensuring children have access to education and healthcare, or helping families feel safe and supported:

LEGO August 2020 Sets Delayed Until September 1

If you were shopping this past weekend on LEGO Shop@Home in North America, you may have noticed that a lot of the summer 2020 set that were slated to be released on August 1 didn’t launch. We have some official statements coming out of the LEGO Ambassador Network regarding this issue.

The reason that we don’t have the sets yet is because COVID shut down the factory in Mexico and the NA stock wasn’t ready for launch until September 1. LEGO also said that they start selling the new products as soon as they get them so it could be any time between now and September 1. Again, this is affecting the North America region.

The typical Europe = June sets that equal NA = August sets have been impacted by the closing of the Mexico factory. I believe this has been mentioned in other threads but I have been unable to locate this info being shared on the LAN. Some of the August 1st sets have been delayed due to production limitations. This can was shown on LEGO.com by having “Coming Soon” on some products and “Available August 1st” for other sets. The “Coming Soon” sets have not been canceled, just delayed and our other factories are working hard to assist all markets.

I have been informed that due to the LEGO Mexico factory closures, we (in NA) moved out a list of products from Aug. 1 to Sep. 1. With that said, we have been informed we can sell the products upon receipt so

LEGO Super Mario Character Packs (71361) Target Sale – August 2020

Target currently has the new LEGO Super Mario Character Packs (71361) available for $3.99 each which is 20% off the normal price of $4.99. I’m not sure if it’s a pricing error or if they’re selling it at that price for the time being. There are ten different characters that you can find from the packs which I’ve listed below. They are blind packs so if you order multiples, there’s a chance that you may get duplicates. LEGO Shop@Home has the Character Packs listed at $4.99 each.

LEGO Ideas The Fortress – Imperial Army Achieves 10,000 Supporters

The Fortress – Imperial Army by Piraten is one of the latest projects to achieve 10,000 supporters on LEGO Ideas. Apparently this one hit 10k a few days ago and I missed it. That shows you how fast these projects are reaching the goal and how easily they can be missed even if I’m on top of it 99% of the time. The project is based on the Imperial Army the Fortress has 2,800 pieces with play features inside of it.
