LEGO Ideas 10 Year Anniversary Fan Vote Winner Announced

LEGO Ideas International Space Station

A few weeks ago, LEGO ran the LEGO Ideas 10 Year Anniversary Fan Vote which allows you to vote on four projects that are given another chance to become an official set. The contest is now over and the winner has been announced this morning as the International Space Station by XCLD. The votes have also been revealed and the project had 10,438 votes or 45.6% of all the votes placed. The other project had the following number of votes:

Stitch by Legohaulic – 5,739
Sega Classic Arcade Machines by SpacySmoke- 3,788
Small YELLOW by Nathan Sawaya – 2,924

This was a pretty surprising outcome as I expected another project to be chosen. Nevertheless, congratulations to XCLD and we’ll know more details about the International Space Station when it is released some time in 2020.

New LEGO VIP Program Teaser

If you’re a LEGO VIP member, you may have received an email recently regarding the new LEGO VIP program. First of all, it looks like LEGO is moving away from the red color scheme we’re used to see with the VIP program and going to a blue color scheme.

In the email, they mention some of the new things that are coming to the program such as teasing about more ways to earn points every day, experiences and members-only gifts, and chose how may points to use instead of a reaching a certain level of points.

We already know that the VIP card will be going digital but you can still use a physical one if you want. Also the VIP points expiration clock will reset every time you make a purchase so basically the points stay active for 18 months as long as you make a purchase within that time frame.

Make sure your VIP account is registered as these new features will be rolling out very soon.

LEGO Minions: The Rise of Gru Sets Coming in 2020

In a surprise announcement out of left field this morning, LEGO revealed there will be some new LEGO Minions: The Rise of Gru sets coming in 2020. There’s not much information to go on but the clip on social media shows a minions looking around. Minions: The Rise of Gru will be in theaters on July 3, 2020 so we can expect to see the sets probably around next spring.

This is the second announcement of LEGO branching out to more animated films. If you remember, LEGO teased that some Trolls World Tour sets could be coming out next year as well.

LEGO Digital Monthly Store Calendars Rumored to Include Promotions Again

LEGO Store Calendar

For a few months now, the LEGO Monthly Store Calendars have been quite useless as they have stopped showing upcoming promotions on them but that may change soon. I heard from a source that the new digital LEGO Store Calendars could be showing promotions on them again when it rolls out next month. To cater to fans even more, the calendars will be available the last Monday before the next month so for example, the July calendar will presumably be out on June 24. Of course I don’t want to get everyone’s hopes up if none of this happens but I have a good feeling that my source didn’t steer me in the wrong direction.
