Celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the LEGO Minifigure

LEGO Minifigures 40th Anniversary

In Denmark, it is August 29 and this was the original date that the first patent of the LEGO minifigure was handed in back in 1977. To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the LEGO minifigure, LEGO has sent over a ton of assets for us to use and to show you some of the behind the scene stuff of how the minifigure went from an idea to what we have now. Note that the first minifigures were not launched until 1978, and hence LEGO is celebrating the 40th anniversary of the first launched minifigures and not when the first patent was handed in, which is opposite to the 60th celebration of the LEGO brick.

Some of the images that were sent to us include design sketches of the Collectible Minifigures line and some of the design process of some of the characters from the past few years.

In addition, we also have an infographic showing some of the key milestones of the minifigure development from 1974 to today.

Since there’s so much content that LEGO has provided us with, I’ll be spreading the posts out for the next few days so stay tuned as you’ll get a look at things that you normally don’t see from LEGO. Before I leave, there’s a short story about the LEGO Minifigure.

LEGO BrickHeadz The Simpsons Homer & Krusty the Clown (41632) Revealed

LEGO BrickHeadz The Simpsons Homer & Krusty (41632)

It was just a few weeks ago that I reported on some more rumored 2018 LEGO BrickHeadz sets and today LEGO has officially announced one of them with The Simpsons Homer & Krusty the Clown (41632) set. Yes, you heard that right. The Simpsons license with LEGO is still going on and this new Simpsons BrickHeadz will be coming out later this year. The two pack features Homer Simpson with a donut and Krusty the Clown. This is sort of an odd pairing but hopefully we’ll see more Simpsons characters in the future.

LEGO Creator Winter Village 2018 Set Teaser Images

LEGO Creator Winter Village

According to the September 2018 LEGO Store Calendar, there are two VIP Early Access sets that will be released starting on September 13. One of the sets is the LEGO Star Wars Betrayal at Cloud City (75222) and the other set is the LEGO Creator Winter Village 2018 set. Lately, LEGO has been teasing some of their upcoming sets and they have revealed in their LEGO News segment, that the set will be announced on September 9. It lands on a Sunday so it’s actually pretty weird that they would do an announcement on that day but we’ll see.

As you can see from the four teaser images, LEGO shows off a Christmas tree, a snowman, a lamp post, and a red telephone. There hasn’t been any rumors on what the next Winter Village set will be but my sources have told me that it could be a Firehouse. Of course, my sources could be wrong but it’ll only be a few weeks before we see what it is. What do you guys think the 2018 LEGO Winter Village set will be?

LEGO Plants from Plants (40320) Giveaway Winner

A few weeks ago, I did a review of the LEGO Plants from Plants (40320) set and if you read the review to the end, I snuck in a giveaway for a copy of the set courtesy of LEGO. The giveaway has now ended and the winner of the set is:

Claudia V.

I’ve been thinking of adding in random giveaways in my review posts so it gives an incentive for those who actually read them. I’m not a prolific LEGO set reviewer but I do what I can with the time that I have so this is a way to thank those who take their time to read my opinion of the sets. Note that not all reviews will have giveaways but I’ll see what I can do.

LEGO Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts Collectible Minifigures (71022) Review

LEGO Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts Collectible Minifigures (71022)

The LEGO Wizarding World Harry Potter theme has had a very warm welcome back and along with this theme, we also get a Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts Collectible Minifigures (71022) line and the set has the most minifigures that has been in a Collectible Minifigures series coming in at a whopping 22 characters. The series consist of characters from both the Harry Potter movies as well as the first Fantastic Beasts movie. Each packet costs $3.99 each and I’ll do a breakdown of the distribution at the end of the review.

Overwatch Sanctuary Map Built with LEGO at Overwatch Fan Festival

As we still patiently wait for the reveal of the LEGO Overwatch sets, one of the big news from the Overwatch Fan Festival a few days ago was D.Va animated short, Shooting Star, but along side that was the reveal of a new Control map, Busan. The only LEGO related thing that has come out from the Overwatch Fan Festival is Sanctuary made out of LEGO bricks. It looks like Blizzard hired someone to create the map but it doesn’t seem like it’ll be part of the initial wave of sets coming out in January.

If we were going to see the LEGO Overwatch sets, it’ll probably be either at PAX West next week or during Blizzcon in November. The thing about Blizzcon is that Blizzard will be doing announcements weeks before the event so they could be revealed even before Blizzcon starts.
