LEGO Wizarding World Newt's Case of Magical Creatures (75952)

J.K. Rowling’s newest series of movies for the the Wizarding World kicked off in 2016 with Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. To much dismay of LEGO fans, there were no LEGO system sets that were produced for the movie which was interesting however there some LEGO Dimensions sets but they weren’t the same. Fast forward to this year and LEGO has revived the Harry Potter theme with the Wizarding World tie-in and there is finally a Fantastic Beasts set that is worth waiting for with Newt’s Case of Magical Creatures (75952). The set has 694 pieces and retails for $49.99. The contents of the box include four numbered bags, a bagged wing for the Thunderbird, a small sticker sheet, and two instruction booklets.

LEGO Overwatch Minisite Launched

LEGO Overwatch

Back in May, Activision Blizzard shocked the community and announced that they will be teaming up with LEGO to produce some LEGO Overwatch sets. Other than that announcement, there hasn’t been any news about it until today. LEGO has already set up a minisite for the theme with the caption, “Let’s get this moving! LEGO Overwatch – Coming Soon”

If you’re familiar with Overwatch, you would know that quote is from Tracer when pushing the payload. The background also shows a faded image of a setting. It’s hard to tell what it is but to me it looks like the Numbani stage. Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong.

There’s still no word on when LEGO Overwatch will be coming out but it looks like it’ll be sometime in 2019 because of the copyright at the bottom of the image. Whenever it is, I’m extremely looking forward to seeing and building the sets.

LEGO Answers Questions About LEGO Powered Up

LEGO Powered Up

A short time ago, LEGO asked LUGs and fan media around the world to take questions about the new LEGO Powered Up system which are in some of the new products such as the LEGO City Trains and in the App-Controlled Batmobile (76112).

Over on the LAN Blog, LEGO has answered a number of questions regarding the LEGO Powered Up system and it looks like there are major changes to expect from the old Power Functions system. One of the main questions I’ve seen been asked on social media is backwards compatibility with PF and it looks they will not be and LEGO will be leaning on the AFOL community to come up with solutions to that problem.

There’s a lot to take in at this time because LEGO Powered Up is still very new but I’m interested to see how the LEGO community will manage to integrate it into their current setups especially in the train and great ball contraption communities where a tried and true framework is still ideal for what they need their layout to do.

What are your thoughts on Powered Up? Let us know in the comments below.
