LEGO Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Out

The box art and exclusive minifigure for the LEGO Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Out DVD is now available for everyone to see. As we’ve speculated before, the minifigure included with the DVD is Darth Vader wearing a medal much like the Luke Skywalker and Han Solo minifigures from the DK LEGO Star Wars Encyclopedias. The 22-minute animated film will be released on March 26, 2013 and can be pre-ordered at Walmarticon. It will be available in the UK on March 18 and France on April 3.

LEGO Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Out - Exclusive Darth Vader

LEGO® STAR WARS®: The Empire Strikes Out™ Animated Special Arrives on DVD

Packed with Humor, Action and Fun – and an Exclusive Darth Vader LEGO Minifigure!

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (January 22, 2013) – After a record breaking debut on Cartoon Network, The LEGO Group and Lucasfilm announced today that LEGO® Star Wars™: The Empire Strikes Out will release on DVD this coming March 26, 2013. The 22-minute original standalone special will bring the same tongue-and-cheek humor fans know and love in a brand new epic adventure featuring everyone’s favorite LEGO Star Wars characters. Distributed by Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment, the DVD will include an exclusive collectible Darth Vader LEGO minifigure and is available now for preorder at www.foxconnect.com/awesome.

Filled with charm, action and irreverent humor this original story features characters, locations and vehicles across the entire LEGO Star Wars universe including Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Princess Leia, C-3P0, R2-D2, Darth Maul, and more. When the premiere of LEGO Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Out aired on Cartoon Network, it became the number-one telecast of the day with kids ages 6-11 and boys ages 2-17. Written by Emmy Award winner Michael Price (The Simpsons), the show features many of the beloved Star Wars voice-actors fans know and love including Anthony Daniels, Sam Witwer, Ahmed Best and more.

Your favorite characters are back to save the galaxy in LEGO® Star Wars®: The Empire Strikes Out™. The heroes of the Rebel Alliance including heroic Luke Skywalker, swaggering Han Solo and steadfast Princess Leia have no time to celebrate their victory over the Empire as a new Imperial threat arises. But as Jedi-in training Luke embarks on this next mission, he discovers that his celebrity status as a “Death-Star-Blower-Upper” can be a double-edged lightsaber when he’s constantly mobbed by crazed fans. So much for secret missions! Meanwhile, Darth Vader and Darth Maul are locked in a hilarious “Sith-ling” rivalry as they compete for the Emperor’s approval. It’s an action-packed comic adventure that’s out of this world!

LEGO Creator Expert Palace Cinema (10232) Preview

LEGO Creator Expert Palace Cinema (10232)

If you follow The Brick Show, you know that they’re at BrickFair Alabama this weekend. Stephen and Jason caught up with Kevin Hinkle to get his thoughts on the LEGO Creator Expert Palace Cinema (10232). According to Kevin, the Cinema took about six hours to build and has some new pieces including a red baseplate in the newest Modular building. Also as I suspected, the movie posters and the screen will be stickers, which is the first time that stickers will be introduced in a Modular building. There are numbered bags to three, one for each level of the building, and three instruction booklets in the box. Again as we noted before, there are 2196 pieces and retails for $149.99.

The Brick Fan Turns 1 Year Old

Today, The Brick Fan turns 1 year old. As I stated in a previous blog post, I began blogging under a different URL but I had to change it to thebrickfan.com on this day in 2012. At first, I was just using this blog to review LEGO sets that I purchase but I shifted to adding LEGO news a few months in and has evolved into what you now see today.

Now for some interesting facts I’ve gathered on the site. In a year, there have been 449 blog posts and have gotten 143 article comments. As you can see on the stats below, the site didn’t get that much traffic until July when San Diego Comic-Con started and doubled again when news of the 2013 LEGO sets became public. The site got 418,660 unique visitors with 647,740 page loads. My goal for this year is to double the traffic that the site currently gets now.

1st Year Site Stats

Here’s some other neat stats:

  • Pages/Visit: 1.55
  • Avg. Visit Duration: 00:01:34
  • New Visitors: 81.33%
  • Returning Visitors: 18.66%
  • 58.29% Search Traffic
  • 27.20% Referral Traffic
  • 14.51% Direct Traffic
  • Email Subscribers: 131
  • Facebook Page Likes: 1039
  • Twitter Followers: 2116

What I like the most about blogging is the friendships I’ve made this past year including, in no particular order, Richard over on Brick Fanatics, Stud from YourCreativeFriends, Beyond the Brick, the guys over at Brick Picker, Jeff, Ed, TheOrcKing, just to name a few. I would like to also thank our regular readers as well as the commenters who add value to the site by giving their thoughts on certain topics.

For this year, I plan to continue blogging about LEGO news and reviews, especially with the new sets coming out this spring and beyond. Building and writing about LEGO is a fun hobby but it’s also a lot of hard work. I promise to keep writing informative LEGO articles that readers can use. If you have any suggestions on how I can improve on The Brick Fan or if you want me to write about a specific topic, let me know in the comments or contact me by email. I have a lot of things planned for 2013 and I can’t wait to share it. Again, thank you for reading and let’s continue this journey together.
