LEGO Seasonal Iconic Easter 2018 (5005249) Review

LEGO Seasonal Iconic Easter 2018 (5005249)

It was only a few days ago that we saw the official image of the LEGO Seasonal Iconic Easter (5005249) minifigure and today we have a set in hand for an early review courtesy of BrickVibe. The minifigure follows a number of minifigures in this small promotional type box that we’ve seen before previously with the Easter Chicken (5004468), Gingerbread Man, and a larger Caveman & Cavewoman (5004936). At this time, there is no information on how it will be available at retail stores. All of the previous sets were available on LEGO Shop@Home at one point in time so it might show up on there sometime in the future.

There is a sleeve that comes off to show the details of the box. It shows a little house that is printed with some LEGO style flowers on the front and some egg painting on the back. The door opens up by punching out the perforation to reveal the Easter Bunny Guy who sits in a black container mold.

For the Easter Bunny Guy, he wears a light blue suit with a green striped shirt and a yellow bow tie. There’s also some partial printing of a bunny on the lower part of the torso. This is more clear with the printing of a bunny tail on the back of the torso. The legs are plain white to resemble the bunny legs.

First Look at Some Rumored Series 18 LEGO Collectible Minifigures

We’ve already reported on a rumored list of the Series 18 LEGO Collectible Minifigures and it looks like Croatian toy store Dexy Co Kids has given us a first look at a couple of these minifigures. Over on their promotional scroller on the homepage, there are a couple of minifigures shown that match up to some of the rumored ones that are coming out including the Red Suit Brick Guy, the Blue Brick Girl, the Cowboy Suit Guy, and the Orange Balloon LEGO Fan Boy. These aren’t the official names of the characters but they do describe what they look like. It is reported that Series 18 will be released in April.

Toys R Us Will Close 180 Stores Across the US

As reported back in September, Toys R Us filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and today they have announced that they will be shutting down 180 stores around the country. The closings will start at the beginning of February and will last until the middle of April. It has been noted that the 83 locations in Canada won’t be part of the closings. There are about 880 stores, including Babies R Us, and it’ll be about one-fifth of the total stores closing.

This will make it a little harder to find some Toys R Us LEGO exclusives for some people which is a bummer. I see that there are three locations around the San Diego area that are shutting down, one of which is expected but the other two are surprising.

You can read the full list of TRU/BRU stores closing below:

LEGO Creator Sales on Amazon

For today’s LEGO deal of the day on Amazon, there are a number of LEGO Creator sets that you may be interested in that are 20% off the regular price. The Modular Skate House (31081) is at $31.99

The Modular Modern Home (31068) is only $24 which is a very good price for this particular set.

The Modular Poolside Holiday (31067) is down to $23.99 from $29.99.

One of the my favorite smaller sets is the Robo Explorer (31062) which is now at $15.99. I absolutely love the color scheme on this set.

Another set that I really like from this group is the Space Shuttle Explorer (31066) which is now at $23.99. I might have to pick up another one or two of this one to display them in their alternate builds.

Finally, we have the smallest set of this group which is the Mighty Dinosaurs (31058) which is going for only $11.99.

LEGO Downtown Cars Showroom Modular MOC

The LEGO Creator Downtown Diner (10260) has been out for a few weeks now and fans have already taken liberty to modify their sets into their own. One of these builders is Brickdance9 who has changed the Diner into a Downtown Cars showroom. The set only uses parts from the Diner, minus the Mercedes AMG GT3 (75877) that is on the second level. This is a very ingenious way of using an existing large-scale set and changing it into something unique which I’ve been seeing more and more lately online.
