The Brick Fan 2021 Recap

It’s been a few days since the new year has rolled over and I’ve finally had time to do a recap on what happened last year on The Brick Fan. As usual, we take a looks at some of the stats and how they compare to previous years.

We’ve continued to grind it out last year and as a result, we ended the year with 31,523,189 page views which is a 22.2% increase from 2020. The unique visits went up 37.9% while first-time visitors increased by 33%. One little highlight is that we’ve crossed the 100 million page view mark early last year which is kind of mind blowing to me.

There was a total of 1,095 posts for 2021 which was the most that we’ve done in a single year. The highest traffic day was July 6 with 178,139 views which was a day after the LEGO Ideas Seinfeld (21328) was revealed. Apparently, the post got viral on the Google Chrome Suggestions so that helped a bunch with the views.

Our social media accounts have steadily increased but we do need some work on Instagram as it barely gained any followers. The numbers below are what we ended the year with.

Facebook: 20,106 likes/23,250 followers (7.68% increase)
Twitter: 11,962 followers (10.5% increase)
Instagram: 16634 followers (1.3% increase)
Reddit: 1572 readers (192.2% increase)

2021 was actually a busy and fairly stressful year for me on the site and personally and I’m surprised that it gained as much traction as it did. All the work was 99% … Continue

LEGO BrickHeadz Stranger Things and Looney Tunes Sets Revealed

The LEGO Building Instructions page has revealed two new LEGO BrickHeadz set with the Stranger Things Demogorgon & Eleven (40549) and Looney Tunes Road Runner & Wile E. Coyote (40559). There’s no information about them but they will most likely be priced at $19.99 or even $24.99 since they’re licensed sets. Since there are images of them on the building instructions portal, they might be available in a month or two.

The two sets have been rumomred since last year following the release of the Looney Tunes Collectible Minifigures (71030) and the recent retirement of The Upside Down (75810). Both sets are very recognizable as to what they are and they look to be nice additions to the BrickHeadz theme.

LEGO Creator Vespa Scooter (40517) Accidentally Revealed?

Hungarian retailer Kocka.hu looks to have accidentally revealed the rumored LEGO Creator Vespa Scooter (40517). In one of the lifestyle images for the new High-Speed Train (40518), there’s a group picture of the smaller Creator sets such as the London Bus (40220), Yellow Taxi (40468), and Tuk Tuk (40469) but there’s also a set we haven’t seen before. The Vespa was rumored last year to be a set so it looks like this one could be it.

LEGO Brand Store (40528) Set Revealed

In the past day, there have been reviews that have surfaced of a brand new LEGO Store (40528) set. It looks like the consensus is that you can get it for free starting next year with purchases of $125 when new LEGO stores are opened.

The store includes details that you can find in a real LEGO store such as the Pick-a-Brick wall, various stickered sets, the wooden duck, and what looks to be the Tree of Discovery which is seen in the New York flagship store.

It’s a decent niche set but a majority of you will probably never get it if it for store grand openings. You can usually check the LEGO store calendar to see which stores will be opening and hopefully there’s one that will be opening near you.

Last Few Days for Retiring LEGO Sets – December 2021

It’s about a day and a half left until the new year rolls around and that means there will be brand new LEGO sets available for purchase on the LEGO Shop. That unfortunately also means that older sets will be rotated out as they will be retired. There will still be some time to purchase them but note that once they are listed as sold out/retired, they won’t be available again, at least on the LEGO Shop. If the listing says temporarily out of stock, there might still be some on the way but it won’t be that many. You can probably still find them at other retailers as well as on the secondary market. LEGO has overhauled their Retiring Soon soon page and there’s nothing listed but the list below is what is presumed to be the sets that will be gone soon.
