LEGO Collectible Minifigures Packaging Changes Coming Soon

A few years ago, LEGO announced that they will be accelerating their sustainability efforts which included their packaging materials. This included changing the plastic bags to paper bags as well as for the instructions. Unfortunately, this also goes for the packaging for the LEGO Collectible Minifigures line. Starting in 2023, the minifigures will be packaged in cardboard boxes. This means that feeling for them to find the one you want, which we have done for years, will no longer be relevant. It has also been stated that there will be no indicators on the packaging to show which minifigures will be inside the boxes.

The concept of using cardboard packaging for minifigure type sets has been used for the LEGO VIDIYO Bandmates line and it will soon be implemented for the LEGO Super Mario Character Packs – Series 5 (71410). There is no doubt that this will resort to theft because it’ll be easy to just open up the box in stores and check whatever one is inside. Resellers will also get a boost in profits because they can sell “confirmed” minifigures for people who are looking to complete the set.

Below are some of the concept packaging that LEGO used in testing with people and somehow they landed on cardboard boxes. Obviously, the boxes are recyclable and it helps the environment and all that jazz but come on. The negatives of this decision will overshadow the positives, e.g. lost sales, interactivity with others. I know I’ve helped many people look for a particular minifigure … Continue

LEGO Forest Hideout (40567) Review

LEGO Forest Hideout (40567)

LEGO celebrates their 90th anniversary this year and one of the promotions for this year is the Forest Hideout (40567). The set has 258 pieces and you can get it for free with purchases of $150 or more while supplies last. The set is a reimagining of the Forestmen’s Hideout (6054) from 1988.

LEGO Forest Hideout (40567)

There are two minifigures in the set, a male and female from the Forestmen faction. Both have the same torso and legs with the male having a bow and arrow and the female having the sword.

The first part of the build includes a target practice for the bow and arrow Forestman.

The hideout itself looks extremely similar to its predecessor with the hollow tree that opens up to reveal a ladder that goes up to a barrel.

The front of the hideout has a couple of the Forestmen shields that are hang high above.

Overall the LEGO Forest Hideout (40567) is a great set that pays homage to the original one. Again, it is available with purchases of $150 or more while supplies last.

LEGO Con 2022 Recap

LEGO Con 2022 completed yesterday with a surprisingly positive response from viewers and there was a lot packed in the two hours of the event. There were more LEGO reveals compared to last year and there were also some teasers that you may have missed in between. If you tuned in live for LEGO Con, LEGO is during a survey and taking feedback about the show. You have until June 27 to fill it out.

Teasers

The not so obvious teaser was during the LEGO Harry Potter segment where LEGO Design Master Marcos Bessa talks to Evanna Lynch about some of the HP sets with the huge Hogwarts Express in the background. There’s been rumors of a large scale Hogwarts Express (76405) coming in the fall that has a reported 5,129 pieces and will retail for €499.99.

The more subtle teaser was during the LEGO Star Wars reveals when LEGO Designers Michael Lee Stockwell and Madison O’Neil both came out wearing shirts with the Razor Crest outline. It has also been rumored that there will be a UCS Razor Crest (75331) that will retail for around $529.99. This rumor is a little more iffy than the Hogwarts Express.

Lastly, we got a first look at potentially one of the next LEGO Minecraft minifigures. There is a fan vote that will be starting soon to choose between the Crystal Knight, Classic Knight, or Prismarine Knight. They said it will be on their Twitter page but we don’t see anything yet.
