The LEGO Group Announces Changes to Board of Directors

A few days ago, LEGO announced some changes to their Board of Directors with with one member stepping down and another joins. CEO of Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd Kåre Schultz left the Board while Netflix Board of Director Anne Sweeney joins LEGO. These changes probably won’t affect us consumers directly but Sweeney did work for Disney, ABC, Nickelodeon, and Fox so she does have a great entertainment background which could help LEGO in that aspect.

The LEGO Group today announced two changes to its Board of Directors as Kåre Schultz, CEO Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd steps down and Anne Sweeney, a member of the Board of Directors at Netflix, joins with immediate effect.

Anne is also a member of the Board of Trustees at the Mayo Clinic, and a Deans Distinguished Fellow at the Harvard University Graduate School of Education.

Prior to embarking on a new chapter in the entertainment industry in 2015, Anne was Co-Chair, Disney Media Networks, and President, Disney/ABC Television Group, which includes The Walt Disney Company’s global entertainment and news television properties, owned television stations group, as well as radio and publishing businesses.

Anne has a BA degree from The College of New Rochelle and an Ed. M. degree from Harvard University.

Chairman of the Board of Directors, Thomas Kirk Kristiansen, commented:

“LEGO A/S has developed tremendously since 2007 when Kåre Schultz first joined as a Member of the Board. I would like to thank Kåre for his dedicated contributions to this development over more than 12 years. Furthermore, I am pleased

How LEGO is Helping Families Affected by COVID-19 Around the World

Earlier this year, LEGO announced some initiatives to help children and families during the COVID-19 pandemic. A few days ago, they released a press release showing what the company has been doing for those affected around the world.

How we’re helping families impacted by COVID-19

Our commitment to ensuring we reach crisis-affected children with learning through play support and vital supplies.

With 90% of the world’s student population currently out of school, and millions of families facing financial, job or medical insecurity, the global impact of COVID-19 on children’s wellbeing and development is unprecedented.

We’ve been inspired and humbled by the work that thousands of amazing charities, NGOs and not-for-profit organisations are doing to provide essential services to families during this time – whether that be ensuring children continue to have access to education, or helping the youngest members of our communities feel safe, valued and supported.

But in many cases, these organisations are facing an unparalleled demand for their services.

That’s why we’ve joined forces with the LEGO Foundation, pledging US $50m to support children impacted by COVID-19. Part of the funding will go to new and existing partners in our local communities to help them reach crisis-affected children with vital supplies and opportunities to learn through play to support their well-being and the development of essential life skills.

Here are just few examples of the many ways these incredible organisations support children day-after-day.
