The LEGO Group Announces Collaboration With IKEA to Promote Creative Play

The LEGO Group has announced that they are partnering up with the popular Swedish furniture company IKEA to promote more creative play in the home environment. The press release doesn’t go into detail of what will be happening with this partnership however my guess is that we could see LEGO branded furniture being sold at IKEA. Stay tuned as we expect more information in the near future about the LEGO/IKEA team-up.

IKEA AND THE LEGO GROUP IN COLLABORATION TO ENABLE MORE PLAY AND CREATIVITY

We know that play is an important part of life and we believe in the power of play. Play lets us be creative, explore, experiment, dream and discover. IKEA and the LEGO Group, join forces to encourage more play.

Play is key to develop. And it is an essential part of a better everyday life. Play is so many different things, for so many different people. In the everyday life there are different barriers for play. Some of the barriers are more evident for grown-ups. One being that grown-ups think that playing can be messy. Other barriers are more evident to children – like grown-ups trying to create order in the play environment, where children in fact enjoy and often immerse themselves in the midst of it all.

“It started with an invitation from the LEGO Group “Do you want to play?”. Of course we said yes to this and together we now want to enable more play by triggering play in the functionality of the everyday life. At IKEA we first

The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part Teaser Trailer Breakdown

The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part

The big news yesterday was that teaser trailer for The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part was released online yesterday and I’m going to try and do a breakdown of what happened in the trailer and what sets we could get from LEGO from what was shown.

The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part

It’s been five years since the events on Taco Tuesday and Bricksburg has turned into an apocalyptic wasteland. If you remember, LEGO DUPLO characters came at the end of The LEGO Movie and it looks like they caused the destruction of the city.

As a result, everything turned into chaos and it “toughened and hardened” most people including Larry the Barista who underwent a drastic change. The only person that seemingly didn’t get affected was Emmet.

The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part

Emmet thinks he sees a shooting star go by but it is most likely a device sent down by a new character named Sweet Mayhem who is a minidoll instead of a minifigure. Here we can see a new Unikitty who is now a large armored cat that has long front and hind legs.

Building their way through trouble is still an integral part of their characters as you can see them build a four-wheel buggy that could be one of the sets we could get.

Soon after that, they meet Sweet Mayhem, voiced by Stephanie Beatriz, who actually looks pretty cool. She is a minidoll style and wears a stylish helmet with some sparkly wings.

LEGO Ideas Voltron – Defender of the Universe Release Date Revealed?

It’s been over a year since the LEGO Ideas Voltron – Defender of the Universe hit 10,000 supporters and basically there has been no information about it since it was announced that it would become an official set. I did report on rumored pricing but now there might be information on a release date for the set. Candidbricks has found from a South Korean news site, IT Chosun, that Voltron would be released on August 1 as was told to them by an official from LEGO Korea. The reason for the long delay is because LEGO needed more time to get the license to produce the set.

Although a release date was stated, it’s still not a confirmation until LEGO actually announces it online or through a press release. I’m still thinking they will be showing it off at San Diego Comic Con next month as it is the perfect place to announce it.

LEGO Architecture Las Vegas (20147) Updated Set Look

LEGO Architecture Las Vegas (21047)

As we get closer to summer, more LEGO second half catalogs are being released online and the Korean version shows the updated LEGO Architecture Las Vegas (21047) set. If you remember from earlier this year, this set was supposed to be released around this time but due to events at one of the hotels that was going to be in the set, it had to be redesigned.

As you can see above, the updated LEGO Architecture Las Vegas (21047) set will now include the Welcome to Las Vegas sign, the Bellagio in place of the Mandalay Bay Hotel, the Luxor Hotel, the Encore Hotel, the Stratosphere Tower, and the Fremont Street Experience. According to the image, the set will be released in September.

Thanks to Jesse for sending this in.

LEGO Star Wars: Choose Your Path Book Review

LEGO Star Wars: Choose Your Path

One of the new DK books that will coming out this week is the LEGO Star Wars: Choose Your Path that I’ve reported on a few months back. The style of the book is similar to the classic Choose Your Own Adventure books where you assume the role of a character, in this case U-3PO, and you make choices to determine the story’s outcome. LEGO Star Wars: Choose Your Path has 128 pages and retails for $19.99 and it releases on June 5.

LEGO Star Wars: Choose Your Path

Minifigure

As with a majority of DK books, there usually is an exclusive LEGO minifigure included but for this one, it isn’t an exclusive. With the book, we get U-3PO which was previously found in the 2016 LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar (75146). Unless I missed something, it is the exact minifigure and is basically a color swap of most recent version of C-3PO.

LEGO Star Wars: Choose Your Path

Book

As I mentioned before, LEGO Star Wars: Choose Your Path is a story based book where you choose your way of how the story goes. There are three starting points to choose from, “Hunt the Sith,” “Fight the Empire,” or “Defeat the First Order.” For each page, it gives a short story in which you’ll have to find a way to continue the story by picking one of two ways and keep going until you find a good ending or it tells you to try again. There are more than 40 endings that you’ll be able to find.

The pages also showcase an actual LEGO set that … Continue
