Blocks Magazine Now Available at Barnes & Noble Stores

Blocks Magazine has announced that the first issue is finally available at Barnes & Noble stores in the US. The magazine has been available across the pond for a while and now we get to conveniently get a copy at B&N. There’s no word yet on pricing since I haven’t been able to find it at my store yet. If you found it at your B&N, let us know in the comments how much they go for.

If you haven’t heard of Blocks before, it is a magazine made by LEGO fans for LEGO fans. Contributors to the magazine come from various sources including Huw from Brickset and Adam from Brick Fanatics.

Blocks Magazine Will be Available at US Barnes & Noble Stores

Blocks Magazine

The highly popular Blocks LEGO magazine which was first released a few months ago in the UK will now make its way to the US. They have just announced on their Facebook Page that Barnes and Noble stores will be stocking the magazine.

Before, we could purchase online and ship it over here but at pretty expensive shipping costs. Now that we can purchase the magazine locally, we don’t have to worry about that. Also, the first issue has been sold out at a majority of the stores in the UK so clearly there is a market for the magazine. Whether or not it will be the same here for the US remains to be seen but I look forward to reading it if I can find a copy.

There’s still no word yet on when Blocks magazine will be available at Barnes & Noble or how much it will go for at this time. More details as they come.

The LEGO Movie Learning Event at Barnes & Noble Stores

The LEGO Movie Barnes & Noble Learning Event

Barnes & Noble stores throughout the US will be holding a LEGO Movie Learning Event on Saturday January 25th as they count down to the movie premiere next month. The special children’s event will have hands-on LEGO activities for kids to enjoy as well as surprises for everyone who attends. Not sure what kind of giveaways the stores will be having but we’ll have more information as they become available. Check your nearest store for more details.

Update: Barnes & Noble has given some details of the event. Thanks for Gloria for the heads up.

Join us in stores for the “Countdown to the Movie” event on Saturday, January 25, where you (and your kids and spouses) will learn about the movie with fun and engaging activities centered around movie facts, movie music, and a screening of the official trailer for The LEGO Movie. Guests will also receive The LEGO Movie mini posters, compliments of Warner Brothers. Space is limited to 50 participants per store, so contact your store now to secure your spot!

The kickoff party will have you all set to see the film in February, and then we’ll invite you back for another free, in-store LEGO event on March 1, with tie-in toys, games, and books.

Barnes & Noble LEGO Architecture Studio Event

Yesterday, I attended one of the many LEGO Architecture events held in Barnes & Noble stores throughout the United States. The event was to talk about aspects of the design process in architecture as well as to promote the new LEGO Architecture Studio (21050) set.

At the event, there were a couple of guest speakers that were invited to speak to the attendees: MiraCosta College Drafting & Architecture professor, David Parker, and former Master Model Designer and fellow SandLUG member, Mariann Asanuma. She also runs the popular site, Model Building Secrets so if you want to learn some juicy secrets from a LEGO Master Model Builder, I suggest heading over there and checking the site out. Kevin, Ambassador of SandLUG, was also available to show off a few his amazing modular buildings.
