LEGO The Simpsons Series 13 Collectible Minifigures Confirmed For May 2014

As we reported last month, there was a rumor that the Series 13 of the LEGO Collectible Minifigures line could be based on The Simpsons characters. In May 2014, Series 13 of the Collectible Minifigures line will be based on 16 Simpsons characters including Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, Apu, Chief Wiggum, Moe, Itchy and Scratchy, and a few more of the animated TV show’s characters will be released. Finally in May 2014, there will be a special LEGO Simpsons TV episode, very similar to LEGO Star Wars: The Padawan Menace and The Empire Strikes Out. The Simpsons’ director David Silverman has also confirmed the news via Twitter:

LEGO NASA’s Missions: Imagine and Build Contest Winners

Back in June, we reported there was a LEGO contest called NASA’s Missions: Imagine and Build happening on ReBrick in conjunction with the space agency.

The winner of the “Imagine Our Future Beyond Earth” contest was the “Sunbeam,” created by Jay Semlis from England. The satellite is used to look at the outer cornea of the sun. There were also two runner up winners including “The ORACOM” by Sergio Parra from the United States which is a Mars spacecraft and the “Asteroid Initiative” by Peter Hollander also from the United States which is used to pick up and move asteroids.

NASA’s associate administrator for education Leland Melvin says, “Our intention was to unleash everyone’s creativity and inspire participants to combine real NASA research with imaginative flights of fancy. Looking at the winning designs, it’s clear we did just that.”

The grand prize winner of the contest received the LEGO CUUSOO Hayabusa (21101) set, signed by the LEGO designer Melody Louise Caddick, recognition and honorable mention on NASA.gov, and a collection of NASA memorabilia including a personalized signed lithograph from Melvin.

There was also another contest called the “Inventing the Future of Flight” to create a prototype of a future aircraft as well as writing a technical paper to explain the model and how it is taking NASA’s ideas and improves on them. The winning model for the younger builders category was the “Flying Extinguisher 4000 Fish Eagle” created by 16 year old William Nodvik from the United States which is a long range supertanker that puts … Continue

More LEGO Seasonal Christmas 2013 Sets Revealed

Huw over on Brickset has just posted images of two more LEGO Seasonal Christmas 2013 sets that will be released later this year, Decorating the Tree (40058) and Santa Sleigh (40059). These images are courtesy of Brickset member Gregori and are from the German LEGO store calendar for October. There’s no details on pricing or availability as of this time but my guess is they are polybags that will probably be given out with a certain purchase amount or sold as store exclusives as nice little stocking stuffers during the holidays.

Set 40058 shows a Christmas tree decorated with lights with presents and toys next to it. There are two children minifigures included, one male and one female, and also a ladder for them to climb. Set 40059 shows Santa riding his sleigh full of presents that is being pulled by a reindeer. There is also a older minifigure with short legs holding a police radio.

LEGO Super Heroes 2014 Rumored Sets

Here’s some news that many people have been waiting for. All About Bricks is reporting there will be quite a few LEGO Marvel Super Heroes sets coming out in 2014. First off, there will be two sets based on the LEGO 4 Juniors or 4 Plus line which targeted children four years or older. One set will be a Spider-Man car and has Venom and the other set is a Batcave and includes Batman, Robin, and the Joker.

Now to the good stuff. For the Marvel side, there will be three Spider-Man sets that will have new heroes and villains. There’s no word on whether they will be based on The Amazing Spider-Man 2 movie or continuing with the Ultimate Spider-Man animated series. My guess is from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 since the movie will be out on April 17, 2014. The characters in the movie will include, of course, Spider-Man, Gwen Stacy, Electro, Rhino, Norman Osborn, and Harry Osborn just to name a few. I’m thinking that Norman will be the Green Goblin if that villain is in the movie. My guess for the minifigures are Spider-Man, Gwen, Electro, and Rhino. If LEGO decides to continue with the Ultimate Spider-Man, there are so many characters but the ones that stick out are Luke Cage/Power Man, White Tiger, Lizard, Electro, Rhino, and Kraven the Hunter.

There are also two sets based on The Avengers. Again, we don’t know if it will be based on last year’s movie since we’ve already have sets for it. Here’s … Continue
