The LEGO Movie 2 Collectible Minifigures (71023)

Last week, I ran a contest to give away one complete set of The LEGO Movie 2 Collectible Minifigures (71023) and it’s time to announce the winner. We had over 9,000 entries and the winner is:

Congratulations to the winner and they have already responded so I’ll get it out soon. In the meantime, I have another giveaway set up for something special for next week so stay tuned for that.

The LEGO Movie 2 Benny’s Space Squad (70841) Availability

The LEGO Movie 2 sets have been available for a few days now and arguably the most popular set in this wave is Benny’s Space Squad (70841). At only $9.99, it has four different colored space minifigures which is something that fans highly desire. Currently, it is on backorder on LEGO Shop@Home and will ship in 30 days but if you can’t wait, some other retails have already started carrying the set as well.

Target online is also out of stock at this time but various locations may have them in store. Check out Brickseek to see which stores have them on the shelves or in the warehouse.

In addition, Barnes & Noble has it available online as well as in stores. You can check the availability of the set by entering your zip code to find stores closest to you. You can purchase online and pick it up locally.

Benny’s Space Squad will be more widely available at the beginning of the year so don’t worry if you can’t find it now. Don’t go paying flipper prices for it unless you really want it for some reason. I’ve already seen people selling and buying it for over $20. Keep in mind that it also may be a little difficult to find when the movie comes out in February because of the hype surrounding the movie. For what you get at that price point, I can see that it’ll be popular for a long time.

LEGO Reveals Logo for The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part

The LEGO Movie 2

LEGO has just revealed the logo for The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part which comes out in theaters in February 2019. There’s still no concrete info on what the story will consist of as there have been changes to it since last year. It looks like LEGO is ready to start promoting the movie so hopefully we’ll get some more details at San Diego Comic Con in a few months.

The LEGO Movie 2 Release Date Pushed Back to 2019

Late night news coming out of is that The LEGO Movie 2 has been pushed back to February 2, 2019. This is the second time the sequel to the highly popular movie has been pushed back with the original release date of May 26, 2017, then to May 18, 2018. There was no reason why Warner Bros. decided to move the movie back along with a couple of other ones but we still have The LEGO Batman Movie and the LEGO Ninjago movie to look forward to in 2017.

Doctor Who To Make Appearance in The LEGO Movie 2?

LEGO Dimensions Doctor Who

Doctor Who has made an immediate impact in the LEGO world this year with its appearance in LEGO Dimensions and in the upcoming LEGO Ideas (21304) set. io9 is reporting that Warner Bros. is in negotiations with BBC for the Doctor to make an appearance in The LEGO Movie 2.

Director Rob Schrab dropped that teaseer on the Harmontown Podcast but that was pretty much it. Although there wasn’t more information about this, it sounds like the Doctor will be making a cameo appearance like Han Solo, Chewbacca, and Lando did in the first movie.

The LEGO Movie 2 won’t be out until 2018 so there’s still a few years to see if he will actually be in the movie or not. Who knows, maybe we’ll see some other collaboration between LEGO and Doctor Who between then.

Official Release Dates Announced for Upcoming LEGO Movies

Mark your calendars! Variety is reporting that Warner Bros. has given the release dates of three of the upcoming LEGO movies in the next few years. The LEGO Batman spinoff movie will be released on February 10, 2017 and the LEGO Ninjago spinoff movie will move from 2016 to September 22, 2017. Finally, The LEGO Movie Sequel will be slated for May 18, 2018.

Dan Fellman, Warner Bros. President of Domestic Distribution notes, “We are very excited about dating our upcoming Lego animated features, which already have a worldwide fan following, built on the foundation of the first film. These three films already in the pipeline are just the beginning of a creative and diverse animation slate that will be delighting audiences for years to come.”

There’s still no new information about the Batman and Ninjago movies but there have been tidbids on The LEGO Movie Sequel. We know that it’ll take place four years after the first one and Emmet and Wyldstyle will be back along with more female characters. Below is the official press release:

Warner Bros. Pictures

Confirms the LEGO Pieces of its Animation Slate into 2018

(April 20, 2015 – Burbank, CA) – Building a strong slate of animated tentpoles that extends well into 2018, Warner Bros. Pictures today confirmed the release dates of three much-anticipated LEGO features. The announcement was made by Dan Fellman, President, Domestic Distribution, and Veronika Kwan Vandenberg, President, International Distribution, Warner Bros. Pictures. The next LEGO film to open will be the as-yet-untitled LEGO Batman feature, which

Emmet and Wyldstyle Returning for The LEGO Movie 2

Various tidbids of The LEGO Movie 2 have been coming out slowly but we now have some big information on some of the characters that will be in it. In an interview with Zap2It, Phil Lord and Chris Miller revealed that Emmet will be returning to the sequel along with Wyldstyle which will take place four years after the events of the first movie.

“It picks up where the other one left off,” Lord said. Miller also added, “Emmet and Wyldstyle will be back, and others and there will be new characters as well.”

Given those statements, there’s no mentioning whether Chris Pratt or Elizabeth Banks will be returning to voice The LEGO Movie 2. Hopefully they will be able to return to give the storyline some sort of continuity as we’ve grown to know and love the voices of Emmet and Wyldstyle.

The LEGO Movie 2 will be directed by Rob Schrab with Lord and Miller producing and will be released sometime in 2018.
