Here’s something that is a blast from the past over on Target’s website. The 2015 LEGO Minifigure Gift Box (5004077) is now available again for purchase for whatever reason so if you didn’t get it two years ago or if you’re a newer LEGO fan, you can now buy it again for $9.99. There’s no details on how much inventory they actually have in stock.
It contains four exclusive minifigures that you won’t find in sets and they include LEGO Ninjago Stone Armor Kai, LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes Lightning Lad, LEGO Legends of Chima Sir Fangar, and a LEGO City Diver. I’ve already done a review of the set a few years ago so you can check that out if you want.

I’d prefer the other one with Super Boy in it.
I also wish they would have kept doing these with more random characters.
I actually found about ten of these at a Target near one of our displays back in February, after sneaking out to do the TLBM scavenger hunt. If it’d been the Superboy cube, I probably would have cleaned them out, but instead I picked up only one (my fourth) and I still don’t know if it was worth it.

It doesn’t have to be a cube. Cosmic Boy wasn’t. It just has to not be a SDCC exclusive.
Exactly. I was actually expecting to be slapped in the face with the SDCC thing.
As for the Cubes, I love them. Price is great, and a great way to get one-off figures. I’m also more than OK with the direct to DVDs with the figures. Animation in those movies is usually pretty good, stories are just OK, but the price is more than OK for what you’re getting.
Really the main problem is that there are about 100 figures I’d still like, and new variations of the figures I already have are not on the list.
Given how closely we got LL and CB, I think most of us were expecting to get shafted by SDCC. As long as that doesn’t happen, I think there’s still hope. However, the longer it takes, the less likely I’d be to expect them to round out the trio. Probably our best chance is if they put SG in a set with one or two other unreleased members so it doesn’t feel like she’s out of place. Maybe a regular Superboy even.

Not to look a gift horse in the mouth (since I already have two of them) but it would have been nice to have a new one for 2017. Although perhaps the fact they have all of these left over to re-release is the reason we DON’T have a new one.
Are we sure we’re not getting a 2017 one? And it’s a little weird to base the success of these on sales because although they are re-appearing they often sell out quickly and are hard to find.
We didn’t get one last year, so it seems like the safe bet is that we won’t this year either.
