The Brick Fan Expanding to LEPIN Set Reviews

There’s a point in time where you have to take a step back and see where you are in life and at this point, I’ve decided to expand The Brick Fan. A few people have asked me whether I would do this or not but I think it’s about time that I do so. I’ve decided to go ahead and also review LEPIN sets.

We’ve all seen a company called LEPIN which many call a knockoff company. Essentially, they take official LEGO sets and make bootleg sets out of them with subpar plastics. There aren’t that many reviewers of LEPIN sets and I feel that I should take this opportunity to test them out and let the public know how I feel about them. I’ve set up a website called The LEPIN Fan for my the reviews and I encourage you to head on over and check it out.

Another year, another joke. First of all, I do not endorse or support LEPIN nor will I ever review the sets. A majority of LEGO fans certainly will feel the same way as I do. If you haven’t checked it out yet, LEGO has an ongoing a civil lawsuit against the company.[/su_spoiler]

Seems like a rehash of the mega blocks review, something a bit more original would be nice. 🙂

I cannot believe I fell for this. I was annoyed for about 5 seconds.

I can understand why people hate Lepin from a legal standpoint, but i’ve heard that the sets are actually fairly good – and they have a tendancy to adapt the sets that Lego does not do on Lego Ideas – meaning that its effectively a second chance for your set to appear even if admittedly you would’nt get any of the monetary gain.

The main complaint i’ve heard about Lepin is simply that the pieces are a bit oily due to the manufacturing process and that occasionally a few pieces were missing – though considering you often pay tens, hundreds or thousands less than the official sets depending on how you feel about the piece quality – they are actually might be a better version of Lego.

As far as i can tell a majority of teenage and adult fans of Lego are starting to shift to Lepin to collect buildings or sets that are no longer in an affordable price range – while picking up the official figures via Bricklink.

Lepin is great for people with much more limited budgets but still want to experience what is effectively Lego. I can totally understand why someone with a family of 5 and low income would just buy Lepin because of the value for quantity.

Having friends who are millionaires and complain about the price of a senior drink at Wendy’s I can understand why a millionaire would want to save money and have his child play with Lepin sets especially if the child could care less.

    Good One.

As broke as I am, I’m a 100% loyal AFOL. Not ever going to buy any knockoffs, regardless of how cool the sets are or a unique piece.

One of my other concerns would be the quality control, materials used. Are they toxic? These Chinese companies have been known to use questionable materials.

April fools right? Can’t believe a site like this would even give choose to give this knockoff brand coverage. Bad for Lego and bad for this site. Hope you have a change of heart.
