If you haven’t seen it yet, there’s going to be a cool little set that will be coming out for aspiring filmmakers called Movie Maker Set (853650) that is themed around The LEGO Batman Movie. The set has 152 pieces and includes a Batman minifigure, parts to build a stand for your smartphone, as well as a background scene. The set is good for making your own stop-motion videos.
The Movie Maker Set (853650) is already available in Europe and Asia but there’s no word on the availability here in North America.

It’s a cool idea, but anyone else feel like they’re really milking this movie for everything they can? Don’t get me wrong, I’m falling for it, but I’m shaking my head too. 😉
yeah. I liked the idea of some of the lesser members of the rouges gallery getting figures, but I feel this is a bit much even by lego standards.
Oh yeah, I LOVE all the new figures we’re getting, but there’s a lot of extras that are driving me nuts. Also, soooo many batman figs. So many. I thought it was bad with the other DC sets…
Give em out for Halloween 😀
the part with “bat merch” really took me outta the movie, since it’s what lego is actually doing… only they charge ridiculous prices for the merch. the lego stores have foam batarangs, foam batman masks, batman mugs, batman water bottles, batman lunchbox case things, and batman themed collectable minifigure storage cases that only have 16 slots (which even show on the back of the box that you have to buy more than one to fit all 20 from the series…)
Good lord. I hadn’t caught that they were only 16 slots. I’ve seen them in the store and shaken my head and moved on without looking at them in detail. That’s super lame.
The “lunchbox” is probably the storage case, which is divided up into lots of different sized compartments. None are adjustable, though.
The minifig display case is a standard item that has been on sale for several years now. They were only available in 8-compartment and 16-compartment versions, and the 16 has been revised so it has a clear back and (I believe) two side-hinged doors instead of the old bottom-hinged design. All they did was slap some Batman-themed packaging on it. Besides, if you get the full range of minifigs, you’ve got enough to fill another two full cases easily, with another dozen minifigs on the way. So four cases and all you have to do is figure out what to do with Clayface, Killer Croc, and Bane. Note that this does only allow for one of the three basic black Batmen, one of the three Robins, and one of the three Batgirls. Also, with careful positioning and some risers, it is actually possible to get as many as three basic minifigs into a single compartment. If they’re a bit bulkier, or they have capes, two is still possible. Or, at least, I know this works in the old style cases. I don’t own any of the new ones yet, so I don’t know if you can build on as much of the plate in each compartment.
Disappointed that there wasn’t an actual camera like the movie maker from years ago.
With the advent of camera phones, making a Lego-specific phone seems unnecessary. That’s probably why.
Probably, but where’s the fun in that?
The cell phone mount could be cool for general use though.
with stop motion being so much easier to do these days, you’d think they would’ve brought back the studios line by now.
If you actually tried that camera, you might not be saying that.
I might get it just for the camera stand! I could then just attach it onto another set I would want to build
This is for sale at the Disney Springs Lego Store. Saw it there Friday night.
If the instructions are posted online could probably build the whole set with the extra pieces I have.
Wouldn’t have the background though.
So seeing LEGOs silly prices for the Batman sets, guessing they will try to get 50 for this, even though there is really nothing to it?
