With the exception of the Riddler Chase set, there seems to be a deficiency of minifigures in a lot of these sets. Especially that Batwing.

It reminds me of Galaxy Squad where the prices didn’t match the shockingly low amount of mini figures we got.

    • Rick Sanchez

right? looks so bare… not even any henchmen or civilians…

    • Purple Dave

I think it’s more that the Riddler set spoiled people with an unusual glut of minifigs. 3 minifigs and a vehicle for $20 is about the most consistent thing we’ve seen in the two Superheroes lines, and which has been repeated here with the Freeze/Catwoman/Scarecrow sets that are already out. In the Riddler set, they basically shorted the set 50pcs to pad the minifig count by a tiny bit (it’s not unreasonable to expect that they could have made it 300ish pcs with 4 minifigs for the same price). But you get twelve in Arkham, seven in the Batcave (Batsuits count, even if the heads are blank), six in the Scuttler, five in the Batmobile, and three plus a bigfig in the Tail-Gator. Really only Clayface and the Lowrider feel light on minifigs based on previous releases. Clayface is also about $10 underpriced (and awesome), and a new Harley is always worth at least two minifigs in my book, so I’d call those both a draw on the minifig count. For the new sets, the second Scarecrow set is way too small to add a third minifig (doing so would probably bump the cost $5), Bane is going to add quite a bit to the cost (all bigfigs do), and the Two-Face set does have four minifigs (some might take exception at the fact that two of them bump our nameless cop/guard count to eight, but I’ll always take more Clayface splat victims). As for the Batwing, we’ll just have to wait and see what the final piece count comes in at to tell if it’s in the expected price range. Anything from 850-950pcs is close to target. If it has less than 850, it really should have had more minifigs. If it has more than 950, it’s underprices like Clayface.

But I’m guessing you’re just concerned about new villains. Batman is obviously so common to these sets that he’s not likely to register after you’ve bought a significant chunk of the range. I mean, we’ve already got a full dozen sets that include pretty much the same Batman (albeit with three different heads). Add in the movie maker set and the summer sets, and that number jumps to 17 total. Ironically, the only sets that don’t feature _a_ version of Batman are the only sets that have the full costumed Batgirl, and a handful of polybags.

wheeeere’s Mr. Polkadot / Polkadot Man… I was to understand that he would be in one of the later sets…
(also still holding out hope for a clock king or mad hatter…)

We saw a picture of one that includes a 4×4 round minifig stand (tile with two studs in the center) that’s covered in polkadots. We never saw anything that verified that would be a real minifig, and someone suggested the border on the pics indicated it had something to do with Dimensions. The tricky thing is the polkadot stand. It’s clearly not a current shape that they make, which limits the ways they could introduce _that_ Polkadot Man as a real minifig. They’ve (thankfully) never made any new molds for SDCC. They’ve made tons for the CMF line, but the Nuremburg pics suggest we won’t be seeing a second LBM wave for at least a full year (S17 and the Ninjago movie are next). There is a possibility we might see him as a polybag GWP, but don’t hold your breath.

Besides that, Bane is really only as famous as he is because he was in the movie that followed on the heels of The Dark Knight. In a similar vein, Deadshot was just one of the main characters in a big feature film, Deathstroke has been a recurring character across several TV series and at least one video game (not to mention being announced as a major character in the Batfleck film), and Killer Moth/Charaxes has been in a few TV shows plus at least one of the LEGO Batman video games. They’ve all also been around quite a bit longer than Bane. Two-Face, on the other hand, is one of the early villains, has had a steady presence in comic books, and has featured in a few TV series and two major motion pictures. But they did sorta give us a Two-Face minifig in the first wave, and really about the only current set that I could justify bumping to the second wave would be the Scarecrow pizza-wagon…but only on the condition that we get the other Scarecrow set in its stead.

“The Bane™ big figure features posable arms and legs, and has a Venom backpack.” ??? Posable legs?

    • David4

I think it’s a typo unless they mean his waist movies. His legs look solid.

It is pretty disapointing to not see any more obscure villains, I figured Magpie and Kabuki Twins and Tarantula would be the start, not the end.
    Why not:
    Black Mask.
    Firefly
    Deadshot*
    Deathstroke*
    Killer Moth*
    Hugo Strange
    Hush
    Soloman Grundy (Born ona Monday)
    Zzazz
    Anarchy
    Azrael**
    KGBeast
    Ragdoll
    Bronze Tiger
    Flamingo
    Professor Pyg
    Nobody
    Talon
    Owlman
    Blight
    Crazy Quilt
    Condomint King
    Dr. Phosphorus
    Egghead
    Gentlemen Ghost
    Kobra
    Lord Death Man
    Onomatopoeia
    Hangman
    Holiday

*These obviously already existed recently, but are still much more obscure than Bane and Two-Face.

AND WHERE IS MY ACE THE BATHOUND FIGURE

Bane’s logo is a perfect obscure reference and I love it.
