Well According to the Trailers of the Movie the batsuits in the batcave set are Scu-batsuit Raging-Batsuit and the Bat Pack
A shame they don’t give you more of the pieces to put the suits on, it seems like the idea is to put all the batsuits from the Collectable Minifig line on the rack.
It’s a rotating rack, so there’s probably room for at least five more alternate suits (three on the back, plus one on each side). That would account for 1/5 of the rumored 20 minifigs in the LBM CMF line, plus the one that’s been revealed for Dimensions.
There are not 20 batsuits in the cmf. It’s about 6 batsuits, a bunch of villains, and a couple civilians
I said 20 minifigs, not 20 batsuits. I figured there would be a handful, but that they’d mostly fill it out with characters that didn’t make it into the regular sets (as they did with TLM). But we already know Dimensions is getting Excalibur Batman, and that means that there should be room on the rack for four more (1/5 of 20). If there are only four CMF Batsuits, that works out perfectly. If there’s more, then there almost certainly won’t be room for the full range on that rotating rack.
It appears that there’s only room for four more batsuits on the rotating rack, and we already know there will be a LBM Excalibur Batman in Wave 8 of Dimensions. I seriously doubt they’re going to release 20 LBM CMFs and limit it to just three new batsuits, so I guess that means the rack would need to be expanded to allow room for the full array.
Is it just me or the black-yellow Batman fig really comes with several different faces in the different sets? The quality of the images is not great but I count 4 faces
Assume that for any dual-sided head, they are showing you one face with one set and the other with a second set. So, at most you can expect there to be two unique heads based on what you think you’re seeing. I can see what looks like a closed grimace, a grimace that’s open on the left side of his face, and a lopsided smile that’s more open on the left side of his face. I’m not sure what you’re seeing that would be a fourth, but that should definitely be two heads. However, the stock DCS Batman head could account for the first two, but the smile I can’t match up to any of the many previous Batman heads (there are 11 catalogued on Bricklink,, not counting stud variants).
With better images, I might be able to figure out if they’re using the 2012 DCS head, but from the sounds of it I might be able to buy some of these sets before high-res pics get released.
Batman comes with at least two different heads in the same style as the one from TLM’s Batman & Angry Kitty set. The Mr. Freeze set has one with an angry grimace and closed eyes opposite a cheerful face. The Batmobile and Batcave come with one that has a stern face with closed mouth opposite a quizzical face with one eye bigger than the other. Joker also appears to have at least two heads, as I just noticed that the balloon set has a face that doesn’t match either of the two faces from the Notorious Lowrider. The mouth looks the same, but the Lowrider has up-curved eyebrows and the balloon set has them angled down in the center.
Hangabout, has it been noted before that Batgirl’s ponytail is angled differently in the two pictures of the Catwoman Chase? I reckon she gets a two-piece cowl.
Probably it’s one piece for the cowl and a bar-mounted ponytail that plugs into the back. That would allow it to swing from side to side. It’s also angled differently in the image for Joker’s car.
Batgirl’s cowl has a small section of bar sticking out the back that plugs into her ponytail. One major advantage of this design is that it solves the problem of her hair crushing the top of the cape. The first Batgirl minifig has a full spread of hair, so you pretty much have to flatten out the peak formed by folding the tabs over each other. Now you can just angle the ponytail to one side or the other.
So geeked about Clayface. Still waiting on Mad Hatter (but Penguin makes him seem more likely in the short run), but I’m going to have to buy at least one extra copy of Clayface so I can get parts to make more alternate arms.
Besides that, Catwoman and Riddler look awesome, Riddler’s staff is long overdue…but the absence of big-fig Bane is curious. He’s not the only villain missing from that early promo shot (Polka-Dot Man is also absent), but he’s front and center in the image, and impossible to fit into a CMF packet. If they’re going to release him, it’ll have to be in a regular set.
Isn’t this just the winter wave? He will probably come out soon.
and i will officially go broke in january
Just picked up the batmobile and low rider. Can’t wait to build them.
How did you get the sets? I thought they were going to be released in January. Did you find some out early at a Target?
Asked an employee in the toy section at target to see if it was in the back. If you go in with the DPCI number you can look it up and see if they have it on brickseek before you even go in the store.
@Ryan: I picked up the lowrider a few days ago, the Batmobile and Mr. Freeze yesterday, and the Batcave today. And I’m not building any of them. Okay, I built Mr. Freeze’ gun and mechsuit, but I buy one of each just to raid for minifigs to use in displays. I’ll pick up keeper copies later on. But I built the gun because its actually designed so a minifig can hold it, and I built the mechsuit because I needed to see exactly what’s wrong with it if I’m ever going to tweak the design.
@Hutt: When The LEGO Movie came out, demand for LEGO sets exceeded their ability to keep up, particularly around this time of year. Last year they pulled an array of January releases forward a month just to keep stock on the shelves. Four of the LBM sets have been selected for early release this year (70901, 70905, 70906, & 70909). Target already got them delivered to stores, but they aren’t scheduled to be shelved until the 27th. They don’t have a hard street date, like video games and movies, so if you ask to have one brought up for you, it will ring up and you should be allowed to buy it. There’s a chance you might hit someone who’s a real stickler for the rules, though, and they’ll tell you to wait until the 27th anyways. I made purchases from three different Targets to get one of each set, and the worst I got was the first guy came up talking about how the Lowrider was dated for the 27th and may not ring up. If that had been the case, they would have put it back in the stockroom and told me to wait.
It’s too bad I collect Star Wars…I really like these sets, but I don’t have enough in the wallet.
