Upcoming LEGO CUUSOO Back to the Future Set Submissions

Masashi Togami

During the first day of the 2013 San Diego Comic Con, I got to meet up with Masashi Togami of Team BTTF and we had a nice conversation about many things including some of his upcoming projects on LEGO CUUSOO. Masashi currently has four projects on CUUSOO at the moment including:

Before I met Masashi, I was roaming around the exhibit hall at SDCC and I got an email from him telling me that he’s been hard at work planning and putting together some new sets that he will be unveiling on LEGO CUUSOO in the upcoming months. From August to November, the team will be publishing more Back to the Future based sets to hopefully one day have them made into future LEGO sets as well. Below are the tentative set names as well as a preliminary picture of the new sets.

  • August 2013: “Doc’s Big Truck with radiation suits on Marty and Doc”
  • September 2013: “Marty’s Toyota Pick Uup”
  • October 2013: “Locomotive 131”
  • November 2013: “Griff’s Future Vehicle”

LEGO is making more Minecraft sets, simply because the original sold so well. The new sets weren’t even on the CUUSOO website, LEGO and Minecraft developer Mojang just made more.

If the LEGO DeLorean ends up selling really well (which I thought would be certain before I saw the box art), then maybe LEGO will make an entire BttF line. Which, come on, would be so ridiculously awesome.

And if they don’t, hey, that’s OK with me. Ever since I was a kid, fifteen or so years ago, I always wanted official Back to the Future LEGO sets, but never thought they’d be a reality. One set is more than enough for this fan.

I love that Lego is releasing new sets from old
movies due to LEGO Cuusoo! The DeLorean was a great idea! Have you seen
the new idea that is gaining traction very quickly? It’s an awesome
Wizard of Oz set. I don’t think it will take very long to gain 10,000
    votes! http://lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/43978
