Douglas DC-3 Achieves 10,000 Supporters on LEGO Ideas

The Douglas DC-3 by Ssorg is the latest project to achieve 10,000 supporters on LEGO Ideas. The aircraft is a fixed-wing propeller airliner that transformed air travel in the 1930s and 1940s and had the most impact in World War II. The set comes in at 18 inches in length with a 26 inch wingspan and includes some plays features such as a turn knob to retract and extend the landing gear as well as a removable top to access the interior. The project now joins The Discworld, Science Adventures, the Medieval Market Street, and the Disney Princess Frozen: Elsa’s Ice Palace to qualify for the First 2015 Review Stage.

Warner Bros. Announces The Art of the Brick: DC Comics Exhibition Tour

A few days ago, Warner Bros. announced that they have partnered with LEGO artist Nathan Sawaya to create an exhibition of LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes characters. This travelling exhibition tour will be called The Art of the Brick: DC Comics and it will showcase his interpretations of many DC Comics characters including Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, the Flash, Wonder Woman, the Joker, the Penguin, Harley Quinn, and more. There will also be vehicles and environments on display as well. Warners Bros. Consumer Products will work with DC Entertainment along with Nathan to create the show. The Art of the Brick: DC Comics will be launching the worldwide tour this fall. Nathan notes,

“This is an amazing opportunity as an artist to be granted the privilege to bring the pages of DC Comics to life and to interpret some of the most famous and iconic characters in history. I look forward to bringing these characters to life in new ways that uniquely fir the medium.”

If you can’t find the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Avengers: Age of Ultron Avengers Hydra Showdown (76030) at Toys R Us stores yet, Amazon has you covered, as of this writing. You can now purchase the set online at retail price and it does have Prime Shipping available if you are a member. We did a review of the set a few days ago so you can check that out if you like. I was recently notified that the new issue of MAD Magazine #532 was available now on newsstands and inside the issue takes “A MAD Look at LEGO.” Famous writer and artist Sergio Aragonés, who I’ve been a fan of for a long time, and colorist Tum Luth portrays various satrical scenarios that has happened with LEGO bricks. If you look closely at one of the panels, you can see that LEGO Artist Nathan Sawaya’s work has been immortalized in MAD Magazine with his “Yellow” statue being the center of focus. LEGOLAND Premiering New The LEGO Movie 4D Film

It was announced yesterday that Merlin Entertainments is teaming up with Warner Bros. Consumer Products and The LEGO Group to bring a new 4D animated film based on The LEGO Movie characters to be shown exclusively at LEGOLAND parks and LEGOLAND Discovery Centers worldwide later this year. The film will incorporate many of the film’s main characters as well as external special effects like wind, water, smoke, and lighting effects to give you a show that fans have never experienced before. Consumer Products and The LEGO Group to bring a new 4D animated film based on the popular characters of The LEGO® Movie™, from Warner Bros. LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Avengers: Age of Ultron The Hulk Buster Smash (76031) Review

For our next review of the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Avengers: Age of Ultron sets, we have The Hulk Buster Smash (76031). This set was available on Amazon a few days ago but has since been taken down. It contains 248 pieces and retails for $29.99 which is about a $0.12/piece ratio. The contents of the box includes three numbered bags, a bagged Hulk figure, one instruction booklet, a small sticker sheet, and the same comic we’ve been getting in this wave of AOU sets.

LEGO Speed Champions Minisite Updated Plus Videos

LEGO has finally updated the LEGO Speed Champions minisite in anticipation of the sets being officially released on March 1st. There are now product descriptions for each of the seven sets in the wave. There is also a Videos page but nothing is on it as of this writing. However, there are some YouTube videos which we’ve embedded below for you to enjoy. Finally, there’s a Games page as well but that page is broken as well.

We’ve already reviewed one of the LEGO Speed Champions sets with the McLaren Mercedes Pit Stop (75911) and we’ll be reviewing the rest of the sets in the wave as soon as they are available. There are reports that the sets have started showing up at Toys R Us so you can probably find them there ahead of the official release date.
