Next year we’ll be getting a new DK LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes Character Encyclopedia and as usual, there will be an exclusive minifigure with the book. A rumor from Just2Good has the exclusive minifigure to be Buccaneer Batman. Yes you read that right, Buccaneer Batman. It’s an obscure variant of Batman as I’ve only seen it from the Kenner Legends of Batman toy line. LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes Character Encyclopedia will be available in April 2016 so we’ll probably seeing images of the exclusive minifigure around the beginning of the year.

Buccaneer Batman is pretty lame. Missed opportunity to do a George Reeves Superman with gray shades of LEGOs and printing made to look like it’s in black and white.
Given that he just died, it would be entirely appropriate, but this was probably well into development by the time that happened. I’m not that big a Superman fan, but I did figure out how to make a B&W Batman in honor of the two actors who wore the cowl before that hacktor who claims he’s the first. But the only options for a purist custom B&W Supes would require using the SDCC Black Suit Superman, which doesn’t really match the Reeves costume.
Who died, now? George Reeves did in 1959.
And Christopher Reeves has been dead for over 10 years now too. So I’m not sure who he means.
Just saw the blurb, but didn’t read the article. A bit of research suggests it was Jack Larson, who played Jimmy Olson to Reeves’ Superman, and who died about a month ago.
Would prefer they made a rare character like Shazam the exclusive instead or at least do the Hellbat armor or Earth 2 Batman or something less obscure.
I would also prefer a non-batman – and the hellbat is awesome – which batman was I just thinking I’d want if it was a batman… I forgot when I saw hellbat. dangit. Oh! Shirtless dual Batman + Ra’s!

All stock parts except the Batman head, which had to be color-corrected to proper yellow. The swords even match the ones seen in their shirtless duel scene in B:TAS. Doesn’t explain why sometimes the cowl is part of the cape and other times it’s a separate article of clothing…
Would prefer a variant of Batman from the video games like the electro suit Batman from the previous book, at least those variants have some use.
Sword just reminds me I need a Ra’s al Ghul!

All stock parts, but only an option for proper yellow minifigs.

Back in 1994, the entire regular DC lineup did Elseworlds stories for their Annuals. Detective Comics had a story about Leatherwing, a pirate version of Batman. The Elseworlds line of stories served as fodder for a _lot_ of the LoB action figure line. I don’t remember if I ever got this one, but I owned quite a few, including a samurai Batman and a Viking Batman. I’ve also got custom Batman minifigs based on the Gotham by Gaslight, Red Rain, Speeding Bullets, and In Darkest Knight titles, have plans to make a Viking Batman, and maybe a The Blue, The Grey, and The Bat Batman, and would eagerly welcome a Leatherwing to my collection.
With all of the DC Characters who HAVEN’T been made in Lego Form yet, the *very last thing* we need is another Batman minifigure.
yuck, yuck, yuck, I agree with everyone else that this is the last thing anyone needs or wants. Give us a Shazam, Bizarro, Batmite.. anything but yet another Batman.
It seems more likely to be this pirate batman:
