The LEGO Group Announces Mads Nipper is Leaving Company

The LEGO Group has announced that Mads Nipper will be resigning from the company and will become the CEO of Grundfos, a Danish company that is a global leader in advanced pump solutions. He will be joining the company on August 1st. Mads has been with The LEGO Group since 1991 and has had a number of senior positions in marketing and innovation. CEO Jørgen Vig Knudstorp has commented:

Mads has been instrumental in the transition of our company over the past ten years. His vast experience and informal approach combined with his true passion for the LEGO brand are all factors that have contributed greatly to our success in recent years. While I am very sorry to see Mads go, I am equally confident that the strong capabilities and robust organisation that Mads has built within the Marketing area will secure a smooth transition over the coming months.

Recently, Mads was instrumental in helping bring in The Simpsons license to the company and the eventual release of the products..

Mads has also given his comments on his new position:

I am looking very much forward to be a part of the Grundfos Group. I have chosen Grundfos, because it is a value based company, who through quality products enhance the lives of the customers while doing something good for the world at the same time. I have enjoyed every minute of LEGO, a great company with great products and great people. Now it’s time for some new and exciting challenges for me, and I

A Sad LEGO Farewell…

It is with heavy heart that I have to announce my retirement from LEGO effective at the end of April. When I started this site back in 2012, I didn’t imagine I would have the amount of readers that I have today. This is why it’s hard to tell everyone I’m leaving.

The reason why I’m leaving LEGO? LEGO has always been a hobby for me but I also have other hobbies, some of which is taking up most of my time right now. I have always tried to keep the readers updated on the latest LEGO news as well as giving everyone some insight of the sets with my reviews. I feel that I cannot keep up anymore with my other hobbies requiring my attention and I don’t want to do articles that are substandard to my usual quality of writing.

Effective at the end of April, I will stop writing about LEGO news but I’ll leave the site up for posterity and maybe once in a while, I’ll do a post. I’ve been contemplating doing this for a while now but I think this is the right decision for me.

What will I do with all my sets? I’ll probably box them all up and store them in the garage and maybe I’ll let my kids have them someday.

I don’t know what the future holds for me with LEGO but I do hope you keep following the Fan Page as well as my Twitter for future updates. I wish everyone happiness with LEGO … Continue

BrickLink Announces MOC Shop and Teaser Page

BrickLink MOC Shop

Earlier this month, BrickLink officially announced that they will be launching the BrickLink MOC Shop in May. It is a place where members can create, share, buy, and sell their MOCs to other members in the community. Builders can upload an image or the LDD file of their MOC for members in the community to like and comment on it and if it gets enough recognition, it becomes a candidate for it to be sold. The design of the MOC will be evaluated for parts availability by sellers. If it is approved, the MOC will be available for purchase as a BrickLink Original. You can read more about the process on the post here. BrickLink has released a teaser page for the MOC Shop (above image). What do you think of this new service and will any of you be selling your MOCs?

LEGO Store Fashion Valley Named Brand Retail Store of the Year 2013

LEGO Brand Retail Store of the Year 2013 (Fashion Valley, San Diego)

I’ve just gotten news that my local LEGO Store in Fashion Valley (San Diego, CA) has won the LEGO Brand Retail Store of the Year for 2013! LEGO takes in many factors to choose the winner and the surveys we fill out after our purchases do factor into account. It isn’t a surprise that the Fashion Valley store won because the staff there is simply awesome from all the Brick Specialists and to Mike the Store Manager. I hang out there a lot (more often than I should) and I’ve seen first-hand of how the employees take care of their customers from answering questions customers may have to a simple thing like the check out process. If you have a chance to go to this store in Fashion Valley, show your support by congratulating the staff there. They do great work and they truly deserve the award!
