LEGO Shop UK Testing Minimum Purchase Amount on Pick-a-Brick Orders

LEGO will be testing out a new thing for the Pick-a-Brick service in the UK in which they will have a minimum purchase amount. This minimum order will align with the price of a large Pick-a-Brick cup in LEGO Stores in the UK which is valued at £11.99. The test will run until there is an appropriate sample size of generated orders. This test could also be rolled out in other countries in the near future.

Starting February 23rd LEGO.com will be running a test in the UK to help us get more info about having a minimum purchase amount for Pick A Brick orders. The minimum order value will be aligned with the price of large Pick A Brick cups in LEGO Stores (£11.99). The test is going to be visible to all shoppers in the UK.

There are currently two different element purchase options on LEGO.com, Pick A Brick and Bricks and Pieces. While these might appear similar the infrastructure behind each of these services is very different. From packing to shipping, Bricks and Pieces infrastructure is designed to assist with small orders to help the end user complete a project or replace lost elements. Pick A Bricks infrastructure is quite the opposite as it was designed to fulfil large bulk orders. The one thing that was not within the structure of Pick-A-Brick was the online experience allowing small orders.

Small orders impact the internal processes, and this provides the opportunity to test a minimum order value. This can also help align the Pick

The Making of LEGO White Noise

At the beginning of the month, LEGO launched a new playlist on Spotify called LEGO White Noise which is pretty much an ASMR playlist of LEGO bricks to help builders relax. They have just shared a new video of a behind the scenes look at how the sounds on the tracks were made. An interesting note they made is that they used over 10,000 LEGO bricks using different combinations of actions, surface textures, and recording techniques to finalize the tracks. If you haven’t listened to it yet, there are seven tracks available for your listening pleasure.

LEGO x HYPE Ninjago Collection Not Coming to North America

Last month, LEGO announced a partnership with fashion company HYPE for a new line of streetwear that is inspired by LEGO Ninjago. The collection has been available in the UK and other parts of the world for a while now but North America has been left out in the cold.

I reached out to LEGO Customer Service to see if the collection will be coming to the US and it doesn’t look like that will be happening any time soon. I’ve been told from LEGO CS, “At this time, we are not offering the Ninjago x HYPE™ products in the US.” They didn’t say anything further than that. It’s a bummer that we won’t be getting it since it was a pretty hyped announcement and people were excited for it and there’s no word on when it will be released here, if ever.

THE LEGO GROUP PARTNERS WITH THE DQ INSTITUTE TO EMPOWER CHILDREN TO BECOME RESPONSIBLE DIGITAL CITIZENS

Billund, February 9th 2021: The LEGO Group has today announced a new partnership with the DQ Institute, a world-leading think tank on digital citizenship and online child safety. The partnership will see the two organisations work together to help children develop the skills they need to thrive in the digital world.

As part of the partnership, the LEGO Group has today launched a new, interactive, fun and safe learning experience, based on the DQ (Digital Intelligence) framework that was pioneered by the DQ Institute. The experience has been co-designed by the DQ Institute and the LEGO Group to teach children vital digital empathy skills at a time when they are spending more time online than ever before.

The interactive experience on www.LEGO.com/kids-saferinternetday will help children explore what digital empathy means and why it is so important; helping them to be aware of, sensitive to, and supportive of one’s own and others’ feelings, needs, and concerns online. During this fun and accessible learning experience, LEGO® Minifigures will present children with a series of dilemmas that they may

LEGO World Builder Women of History Banner Project

For those who are artists, LEGO World Builder is looking for people who can create some banner art depicting some of the most extraordinary women of all time as LEGO minifigures for their image library. Three designers, at minimum, will be greenlit, and upon submitting the Winner’s Affidavit and the IP Assignment, will each receive $250 as compensation. You can read the full list of rules in the link above.

A variety of genres, sub-genres, and mashups make up the LEGO World Builder platform. And now is your chance to contribute your ideas. Just take a look at the world tags on the left side of the Discover page. You can choose from Action, Adventure, Escape, Magic, Science Fiction and many more! How best would you introduce these icons in minifigure form? Sally Ride was the first U.S. woman in space, but perhaps there are greater adventures for her across the universe. Mix and match genres for your banner images . . . Let your imagination roam, because you can submit up to 5 entries!

At this point, you may be wondering what exactly is a banner image. A banner image is the first thing people see when exploring an architect’s world on the LEGO World Builder platform, along with the world’s title and genre tags – so it’s important that the image itself makes a strong, visual impression and motivates people to click in and explore the world. You’ll notice after visiting the Discover page that you probably feel more compelled to click into worlds
